The specific date of this event is unclear; historians say it occurred in A.H.L. 346. This designator is between April 4, 957 A.D. and March 24, 958 A.D. (Reference #24). Mallet (Reference #1879) refers to earthquakes in "Rai and Thalekan" [Ray and Talqan]. Accompanying phenomena included changes of sea level and appearance of new islands in either the Persian Gulf or Caspian Sea. If the location is the ancient city of Ray, the closest sea would be the Caspian. Please see tsunami link.
