A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Sisakht city in the south-western province of Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad, on Wednesday, 2 May, 2018 at 8:38 am local time. The tremor happened at the depth of 8 kilometres of the surface ground. Even though no deaths have been reported, 133 people to have been injured by the quake so far. 33 of the injured have been hospitalized and the rest received outpatient services. Most of the injuries are reported to have been fractures or contusions caused by the victims rushing out of their houses to save their lives. Also, the quake caused water supply cuts to 50,000 residents in villages around Yasuj. (reference #12110)

At least 105 people were injured in the 5.2-magnitude earthquake that shook Iran's western Kohgiluye and Boyerahmad province on Wednesday, media reports said. Major damage has not been reported in the city so far, but the residential areas in the suburban rural regions have sustained damage. The cell phone communication and power supplies in some areas of Dena region and Sisakht have been disrupted. The Governor of Boyerahmad county, Shahrokh Kenari, said that the drinking water of Madvan city and vicinity has been cut off due to the damage of a major water pipe. Rockfalls in some mountainous areas have blocked the roads to Yasooj, the capital city of Kohgiluye and Boyerahmad province. (reference #12111)
