...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY
EVENING...

* WHAT...High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous 
  swimming conditions expected. Piers may be heavily swamped by 
  waves.

* WHERE...Mason, Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan and Van Buren 
  counties.

* WHEN...Through Thursday evening.

* IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water 
  and high waves can sweep people off piers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions
and do not venture out on piers. Please check with your local
authorities on potential beach closures.

- Chance of evening storms south/east of Grand Rapids

Surface obs reveal a weak frontal boundary bisecting the Lower
Peninsula roughly from Whitehall to Alma. Dewpoints are in the mid
40s north of the boundary and mid 50s south of there. SBCAPE is
around 500 j/kg but is progd to increase to around 1000 j/kg by
late afternoon. Thus we'll retain the low chance pops south of
I-96 through the afternoon and early evening; severe storms are
not expected. However, some gusty winds are possible given DCAPE
near 900 j/kg.

- Dry and mild Thursday into the middle of next week.

an omega block will be in place for much of the next week with
ridging over the Great Lakes. This means little chance of rainfall
and warmer than normal temperatures. High temperatures in the mid
to upper 70s and lows in the lower to mid 50s are expected.
Dewpoints will be in the lower to mid 40s. Once the block breaks
down, a cold front is progd to move through next Thursday which
should be our next chance of rain.

VFR conditions will prevail through the forecast period. There is
one caveat and that remains the chance or isolated MVFR and even
a low chance of brief IFR in thunderstorms this afternoon into
the early evening. Strong gusty surface winds greater than 30
knots and hail are possible with these storms but coverage should
be limited and most likely between LAN and JXN around 22Z to 03Z.

NNE winds will increase behind a frontal boundary that's draped
across the central part of Lake MI as the boundary moves south.
Winds may gust to 25 knots, especially north of Grand Haven later
tonight and Thursday. We've issued a small craft advisory and
beach hazards statement for the entire nearshore through 00z
Friday.
