COUNTIES...

At 456 PM EDT, Emergency management reported thunderstorms producing
flash flooding in north Clayton and south Fulton counties, including
at the interchange of I-85 and I-285 and also near Forest Park.
Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall
amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash
flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban
         areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

flash flooding in portions of north Clayton and south Fulton
counties, including at the interchange of I-85 and I-285 and near
Forest Park. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional
rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area.
Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected
  both this afternoon and on Saturday. An isolated damaging wind
  gust threat remains possible through this evening for areas
  north of Interstate 20.

- Hot and humid conditions stick around between Sunday through
  mid-week, while rain chances remain limited (< 20% chance).

- Slightly above normal temperatures continue through this weekend
  with heat index values returning to the low 90s and low 100s.

.SHORT TERM...

Showers and thunderstorms were quick to develop today with activity
starting to fire as early as 12PM. The initial push of precipitation
is currently moving through Columbus with additional convection
developing as far north as I-20 where a differential heating
boundary has set up. Per the 12z FFC sounding, PWs are sitting right
at 1.87" which is above the 90th percentile climatologically. Thus,
showers and thunderstorms will be efficient rain producers and could
drop a quick 1-2" in a short amount of time lending to a non-zero
chance of localized flash flooding in the typical spots. Frequent
lightning and gusty winds (up to 40 MPH) will accompany all storms.
Sufficient instability will make up for lack of shear overall and
lend to an isolated damaging wind gust threat across North Georgia
(along/north of I-20) through this evening.

A secondary push of precipitation is still being highlighted by some
of the hi-res guidance moving into western Georgia after 3-4 AM in
association with a weak surface low. Patchy fog and low clouds are
also likely to be around early Saturday as moisture remains high and
winds remain light. However, coverage of fog will be highly
dependent on any lingering showers and storms which could inhibit
development and extent. Otherwise, a rinse and repeat forecast
(literally) can be expected for North and Central GA Saturday.
Scattered to numerous showers and storms peaking during the
afternoon and potentially lingering after the sun goes down.

(Sunday morning through next Thursday)

By Sunday morning the main frontal boundary from the short term will
have moved into central GA with a slightly drier airmass moving into
North GA. Deep moisture from the Gulf will remain in place across
central and south GA with diurnally driven storms expected. This
frontal boundary continue to move south clearing the area by Mon
morning. The drier airmass remain across the area through the middle
of next week keeping precipitation chances at 20% or less each day
(Mon-Thu).

Temps will stay in the upper 80s to middle 90s through day 7 but
with the drier airmass moving in Heat index values will slowly fall
through the middle of next week. Dewpoints Sunday and Mon will be in
the lower to middle 70s but they will fall into the lower to middle
60s by Wed. Even with temps still in the lower 90s it will feel a
bit more comfortable.

Sct to BKN cigs 2.5-5kft with -shra/vcsh prevailing for the better
part of the afternoon (18-02z) for all sites. Still a good chance
for greater coverage of IFR btwn 08-14z with iso to sct shra and
MVFR vsbys in BR. Big question for overnight is if any shra
activity limits IFR (and lower) cig coverage. Anticipating at
least MVFR but patchy IFR is on the table. Near due S wind,
favoring SSW at 4-8kts outside of any convection.
