...TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 PM EDT FOR CHATHAM 
COUNTY...

At 832 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 
was located over Montgomery, moving north at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
         Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree
         damage is likely.

Locations impacted include...
  Midtown Savannah, Coffee Bluff, Windsor Forest, Hunter Army 
  Airfield, Downtown Savannah, Wilmington Island, Montgomery, 
  Vernonburg, Skidaway Island and Sandfly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built 
building away from windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, 
or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect 
yourself from flying debris.

limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.

.SYNOPSIS...
A front will remain stalled near the area through early next
week. Weak low pressure will slowly move through Monday into
Tuesday, followed by high pressure.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...
The mid-levels consist of a cut-off Low over the Lower MS
Valley. At the surface, a stationary front will meander near or
across our area. The location of this front will usher plenty
of moisture into our area, with PWATs peaking around 1.8", with
locally higher amounts possible. The combination of this
moisture and lift from the front will lead to numerous to
widespread showers across our area. The hi-res models indicate a
line of showers coming into our GA counties late this evening,
then moving NE into our SC counties around midnight and after.
The deterministic models indicate more variability in this line
and the resulting QPF amounts. With this in mind, the QPF WPC
gave us ranges from 0.25" to 1", with locally higher amounts due
to isolated to scattered thunderstorms. Low temperatures should
be near normal.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Unsettled, wet weather is expected to persist through early
next week as a closed mid level low remains spinning over the
Lower Mississippi River Valley and Southeast. The surface will
feature a stalled front lingering over the region, before a
broad, weak low shifts from the Gulf coast states towards the
mid-Atlantic and lifts the front away from the area late in the
period. A deep moisture feed will be in place, with PWats
hovering around 1.7-1.8 inches, which is well above climatology
for mid-May. This set-up will favor multiple rounds of showers
with embedded thunderstorms, especially Sunday into Monday
night. Tuesday will still see shower and thunderstorm activity,
but there are indications some slightly drier air could move in
which could result in less coverage than previous days.

Additional rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches are currently
forecast for Sunday through Tuesday, with a pocket of 4-6 inches
over portions of coastal southeast Georgia. While widespread
flooding is not expected, minor flooding could be a concern
especially in urban and poor-drainage areas and in places where
a large amount of rain falls in a short period of time. In
addition, a couple stronger to severe storms are possible each
day with some shear present.

Clouds and rain will keep highs mainly in the upper 70s Sunday
and Monday, then warming back to normal for Tuesday. Lows will
range from the lower 60s across the interior to upper 60s/around
70 at the coast.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
The persistent closed low will finally open and lift to the
mid- Atlantic and Northeast, with ridging expected to develop
over the region by late week. There will be a reprieve from the
wet weather, with lower rain chances for Thursday and beyond.
Perhaps more notably will be the rising temperatures. Highs are
forecast to reach the low to mid 90s for Friday and Saturday,
with higher heat indices.

.AVIATION /20Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
18Z TAFs: A stationary front near our region will bring periods
of showers along with flight restrictions.

Extended Aviation Outlook: MVFR or lower cigs and/or vsbys possible
Sunday through Tuesday as a front remains stalled nearby and several
rounds of showers/tstms move through.

.MARINE...
Tonight: A stationary front will be near our region. Expect
enhanced winds across our waters through this evening, then
easing overnight. A few gusts to 25 kt are expected along our
SC ocean zones and the Charleston Harbor this evening.

Sunday through Thursday: A stalled front will linger in the vicinity
of the coastal waters through early next week. Winds/seas will be
highest Monday into Monday night when conditions could approach
Small Craft Advisory criteria over portions of the waters. In
addition, mariners should be alert for rounds of showers and
thunderstorms, which could produce locally strong gusts and/or
isolated waterspouts, especially Sunday into Monday. Marine
conditions will improve Tuesday into mid week as winds settle back
to around 10 knots and seas 2-3 feet.

Rip Currents: Onshore winds, the approach of the full moon, and
lingering swell of around 2 feet every 8/9 seconds will lead to a
Moderate risk of rip currents at all beaches on Sunday. An enhanced
risk of rip currents is expected to persist into Monday.

At 746 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 5
miles south of Montgomery, moving north at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
