.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will be in control through tonight before moving out
to sea. An area of low pressure will slide by to the north dropping
a cold front through on Friday Night. A secondary cold front will
move through on Saturday night, ushering in a period of below normal
temperatures. High pressure moves in from the west on Sunday, and
will be in control through the middle of next week as temperatures
moderate.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Tonight: The surface and upper ridge will move offshore tonight.
After a mostly clear evening, clouds will increase later tonight.
Low temperatures will favor the mid/upper 30s for the northern and
western counties while low 40s will be over Delmarva, south NJ and
metro Philadelphia. Southwest winds will diminish through this
evening and turn more southerly overnight around 5 mph or less.

Friday: Increasing clouds expected as low pressure moves well north
of the area and a cold front approaches from the west. Most 12Z
model runs show rains arriving from west to east during the
afternoon, but becoming more disorganized as it pushes into the dry
air mass. We will continue with chance pops for Friday. A mild day
is expected, especially if the clouds arrive a bit later on. Highs
in the upper 50s/low 60s most areas with some mid 60s for Delmarva.
Readings a bit cooler near the beaches. South to southwest winds 10
to 15 mph developing.

&&

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...
A cold front will move through the area on Friday night, with
showers continuing into the night. Heaviest precipitation will be
around southern Delaware and parts of the Eastern Shore, aided by a
secondary low developing near the VA/NC border and moving off the VA
coast. QPF values will be generally be around a tenth of an inch or
so, with higher values over a quarter of an inch in the areas
previously mentioned that will see a more moderate rain. Overnight
lows will be around the upper 20s/low 30s in Poconos/NW NJ, with mid
to upper 30s for the rest of the region. Some spots in southern
Delaware could stay above 40.

Cold front will be well offshore by daybreak Saturday, though the
stronger cold advection will not come until the secondary front
passes Saturday night. This will result in a rather seasonable mid-
March day with temperatures in the upper 40s/low 50s for most of the
region, with the Pocono Plateau staying in the upper 30s/low 40s.
Model soudings are showing some decent mixing for Saturday, which
will result in gusty west/northwest winds, with gusts around 20-30
MPH.

Stronger cold advection will come Saturday night with the passage of
the secondary cold front. This will usher in a period of below
normal temperatures. Overnight lows Saturday night will drop into
the 20s, with the exception of some upper teens in the southern
Poconos. As is the norm in these cold advection patterns, winds
overnight will stay elevated. The resulting wind chills will be in
the teens for most, with lower single digits around the Pocono
Plateau.

A blustery Sunday is expected. While it will be dry, we should mix
well yet again, bringing down some gusty winds aloft. Winds will be
a bit stronger compared to Saturday, with gusts around 30-35 MPH
possible. This cold airmass also looks to be very dry, and with good
mixing, thinking guidance is overdoing dewpoints. Opted to run
straight NBM 10th percentile for dewpoints on Sunday.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Long term period overall will be quiet one. A trough axis passes
through on Sunday night with more zonal flow setting up for the
start of next week. Strong surface high pressure will be centered
either over the region or just to the south, slowly inching
eastward. This will be the dominant feature through at least
Wednesday morning, bringing tranquil weather and moderating
temperatures to the region.  Sunday night through Tuesday morning
look to have slightly below average temperatures, with overnight
lows Sunday Night/Monday Night in the 20s, though some spots on
Monday Night could remain at/above 30. Daytime highs to start next
week will be in the upper 40s/low 50s for most, with low to mid 40s
in the southern Poconos. We kick the below average temperatures and
get to seasonal norms by Tuesday as highs will climb into the mid
to upper 50s.

Some guidance tries to develop a coastal storm for the middle of
next week as high pressure moves offshore. However, the general
consensus has been a suppressed system developing off the Carolinas

Friday... VFR with SCT/BKN mid level clouds and OVC cirrus.
Southwest winds increasing near 10-15 kts by 15Z with gusts

Fair weather is expected tonight and much of Friday. A couple
showers are possible later Friday afternoon, although the chances
are rather small. Winds will be mostly W/SW around 10 to 15 knots
the rest of today then go 5 to 10 knots tonight. For Friday, winds
will increase during the morning and gusts to 25 kts are expected. A
SCA flag has been issued for most of the DE/NJ waters as well as
lower Delaware Bay.

Saturday...sub-SCA conditions expected. West/Southwest winds around

.FIRE WEATHER...
After another dry day Thursday, breezy southwest winds will
increase on Friday bringing increasing surface moisture. Higher
minimum RH values are forecast than previous days with values
ranging from 40-50%. An approaching cold front will bring
chances for light rain showers or sprinkles to the area Friday
afternoon and evening, although rainfall amounts will be largely
less than 0.10" across the entire area. The only exception may
be Delmarva and far southern New Jersey where locally higher
amounts could result in a wetting rainfall.

For Saturday and Sunday, another extended period of dry and
breezy conditions will return. West to northwest winds will
prevail around 15-25 mph with gusts of 30-35 mph possible during
the daytime hours. Forecast minimum relative humidity values
currently range from around 25-30%. This will be followed by poor
overnight recovery, especially Saturday night when breezy
conditions will continue with maximum RH values ranging from
40-50%, possibly lower across the coastal plain. The one limiting
factor for this weekend will be the cooler temperatures,
especially on Sunday with high temperatures only around 40
degrees. Nevertheless, these dry and breezy conditions combined
with the lack of any wetting precipitation for several days will
likely result in additional fire weather issues over the weekend.
