.SYNOPSIS...
The long duration of hot/humid weather comes to a close tonight
as cold front sweeps across the area. A weak disturbance passes
by early Monday morning, before high pressure dominates through
Thursday. Another cold front approaches on Friday, before
drying out into next weekend.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Partly to mostly sunny skies presently are bringing CAPE values
up to 1500 j/kg presently, with potent shortwave approaching in
association with strong Canadian cold front. Expect scattered
storms to fire and then congeal into a broken line which crosses
the area late this afternoon and this evening. With strong
westerly winds in the 40-50 kt range, DCAPE approaching 1000
J/kg, and SRH approaching 100 in the 0-1 km range and 200 in the
0-3 km range, expect damaging winds to be the main threat, with
isolated large hail and possibly a tornado with any cells that
get well organized.
Looks like storms are mostly thru the region by mid-late evening
and then its true relief from the heat. Much cooler and drier
air builds into the region overnight into Sunday with a truly
gorgeous day expected compared to the last few. Temps in the
lower 80s on average with dew points down into the 50s at times
and plenty of sunshine.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
Mostly clear skies early Sunday evening will allow lows to fall
into the low to mid 60s for most with mid to upper 50s in the
Lehigh Valley, Pocono Plateau, and northwest NJ. However, the
clear skies will be short-lived as skies gradually thicken
through the early morning hours on Monday as some shortwave
energy approaches. With an increase in PVA due to a low skirting
off the Carolina coast, it is plausible to see some shower
activity develop early Monday morning. Best chance looks to
occur further south across the CWA where vorticity advection is
highest, but generally have a 20% chance across all areas.
After showers move offshore, Monday should turn out to be a
pretty nice day overall. Skies will clear by afternoon, with
some scattered clouds under light northwest flow. Highs will be
in the low to mid 80s, with 70s in the Poconos and along the
immediate coastline along with low humidity. Lows Monday night
will be similar to Sunday night, although a couple degrees
cooler with some lower dew points.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Through Thursday, our weather will be controlled by a large
dome of high pressure originating from Canada. High centered
over the Upper Great Lakes on Tuesday will gradually take its
time moving overhead. Most ensemble guidance supports a much
cooler pattern for early August, which will be a much needed
relief compared to this past week. Expect highs and lows to run
about 5-10 degrees below normal, with comfortable dew point
levels in the 50s through Wednesday night. Increasing humidity
levels are expected on Thursday as northerly flow becomes
southerly, meaning dew points will be back in the 60s.
Regardless, a nice stretch of dry weather is expected through
most of Thursday.
The next considerable chance of some widespread rainfall will
come as early as Thursday night as an upper trough deepens
across the Great Lakes. As there is still some considerable
timing differences between guidance, have stayed in close
relation with NBM PoPs (30%- 50%) for Friday and Friday night.
Should see some drying occuring on Saturday as trough lifts out
of the NE US and flow becomes more zonal, resulting in
moderating temperatures into next weekend.

Showers and tstms end from W to E as the front passes. Some
lower CIGS (MVFR) possible for a time behind the front, but not
