Flood Warning for the following rivers in Minnesota...

  Minnesota River at New Ulm affecting Nicollet, Brown and Blue 
  Earth Counties.

  Minnesota River at Savage affecting Dakota, Hennepin, Scott and 
  Carver Counties.

  Cannon River at Northfield affecting Rice and Dakota Counties.

...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and 
increased in duration for the following rivers in Minnesota...

  Cottonwood River at New Ulm affecting Brown County.

...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and 
increased in duration for the following rivers in Minnesota...

  Cottonwood River Above Springfield affecting Brown County.

  Minnesota River at Henderson MN19 affecting Le Sueur, Sibley and 
  Scott Counties.

  Minnesota River at Mankato affecting Nicollet and Blue Earth 
  Counties.

.Heavy rainfall from Wednesday through Saturday night has resulted 
in flooding along the Minnesota River and many of its tributaries, 
especially from the Cottonwood River downstream to the Mississippi 
River. Totals over the last 5 days have ranged from 3 to 7 plus 
inches across much of south central and southwest Minnesota. This 
has caused area rivers to rapidly rise. Crests should occur within 
the next few days before a dry pattern this coming week allows for 
rivers to decrease again.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

cresting and will steadily begin dropping off over the coming days, 
with the Redwood River at Redwood Falls already in Action Stage. Dry 
conditions are expected until Wednesday to Thursday this week with a 
small event, thus we expect river levels to continue dropping once 
the crests occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

KEY MESSAGES:

- Rain expected to linger longer into today with additional flooding
  possible across southern MN.

- Drying out for the next few days, but another chance for showers
  returns later in the week.

Widespread showers continue early this morning in areas south of a
line from Appleton to St. Cloud. Embedded pockets of heavy rain exist
across southern MN. The rain will be going nowhere for a while yet as
the upper low stalls near FSD for much of the morning before shearing
out. Drier air will begin eroding the precip from north to south just
after sunrise and things should gradually dry out over the course of
today. 24 hour QPE from MRMS has reached 3 to 5 inches in a 20-50
mile radius surrounding Nicollet County. Major flooding has resulted
in Comfrey and anticipating more problems to develop as the rain
continues. Thus, extended the Flood Watch through early afternoon.
Highs today will reach near 70 across central MN and northwest WI,
but only remain in the 50s across southern MN where light rain will
continue for most of the day. As for the longer term river flooding
trends, most or all of the MN River will return to flood stage this
week. Some sections will reach moderate stage and the Cottonwood in
Brown County could reach major stage. After the rain ends we'll get
a better idea how severe the flooding may be.

Skies clear by tonight and light winds will allow temperatures to
drop into the 40s. This normally would favor fog formation, but the
dry airmass should mitigate a lot of that potential. By Monday,
temperatures rise into the 70s and dew points in the mid 30s to mid
40s will send RH values down into the 20s and low 30s. A backdoor
cold front dropping down from the northeast on Tuesday should remain
precip-free with a lack of low level moisture.

A stronger trough will swing through late week. As the previous shift
noted, the NBM is rather aggressive and early with PoPs midweek. The
best chance will be as the cold front passes through Wednesday night
or Thursday. Future forecasts will be able to trim unnecessary PoPs.

Rainfall expected to continue through this morning. Drier air is
making its way south which will allow any SHRA activity to diminish
throughout the day. Most sites will remain in VFR today with skies
only improving throughout the afternoon. MKT and RWF will struggle
to kick the rain out today. Both sites will bounce between MFVR/IFR
categories as fog/mist is possible to develop this afternoon into
tonight as drier air is expected to remain over Central MN/Western
WI sites. Winds remaining easterly around 10kts with and becoming
light and variable tonight.

KMSP...VFR. SHRA to continue through the first half of this morning
before clearing this afternoon. Guidance hinted at the potential of
reduced vsby during the tonight so included MVFR vsby but will
depend on if drier air can make its way far enough south before any
fog could develop.
