Some light patchy fog with MVFR visbys could be possible north of I-10 this morning; however, confidence in this is low and no impact to TAF sites expected. BB/03 && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 954 PM CST Sun Jan 30 2022/ NEAR TERM /Now Through Tuesday/...In the classic cycle of the Gulf Coast we have made our way back to the return flow period of the cycle. Northwesterly flow aloft will quickly give way to southwesterly flow as upper level ridging builds over the Gulf Coast in advance of an upper level low over New Mexico. This pattern would support dry but warmer conditions on Monday then giving way to increasing clouds by Tuesday as moisture surges northward. A few showers could be possible over southeastern Mississippi late Tuesday afternoon; however, the upper low at this time will likely be centered over the central Gulf leading to really weak forcing and limited moisture (at least for now). Tuesday will really just set the stage for a rather wet period to close out the work week as a more impressive upper trough moves east into the central US. Continued to keep temperatures on the warmer side with mostly clear skies on Monday allowing highs to climb into the mid to upper 60s with the aid of surface southwesterlies. Monday night will also be slightly warmer as moisture advection off the Gulf slowly increases dewpoints leading to warmer lows. Expect lows to be in the mid 40s to low 50s across the area. By Tuesday, the "warmth" is on as highs will likely approach 70 degrees. The only thing keeping temperatures from really getting up there for this time of the year will be increasing cloud coverage from the southwest. One last thing to monitor will be the potential for some patchy fog mainly north of I-10 early this morning and Monday night. Dewpoints are still on the low side for good fog production, but there is some hints of at least patchy fog with visibilities to around 1 mile.
