* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming conditions are expected. Strong 
  currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves 
  can sweep people off piers.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Several beaches that will be most

  Rock Island State Beach, Baileys Harbor beaches and Whitefish

.SHORT TERM...Tonight and Monday

Except for a break in the clouds across far north-central
Wisconsin, skies were cloudy across the region. Isolated showers
were noted across portions of central and east-central Wisconsin.
Temperatures were in the middle 60s to lower 70s.

For tonight, the main focus will be on the potential for another
round of heavy rain. At 19z, the surface boundary finally pushed
through Wautoma and was now completely south of the forecast area.
An upper level disturbance will move towards the area this
evening, with 850mb warm advection/isentropic lift increasing
during the evening. Isolated showers and thunderstorms should
become more numerous along and north of the surface boundary. At
this time, the greatest risk of heavy rain that could cause
flooding will occur where the heavy rain fell last night into this
morning. The current location and timing of the Flood Watch looks
reasonable with no changes to location/timing of the watch.

Later this evening into early Monday morning, low pressure will
pass south of the area. An upper level disturbance will move
across northern Wisconsin, plus the enhanced lift from the right
entrance region of a 300mb jet streak will focus the heavier rains
to north-central and far northeast Wisconsin. Some locations
across the north could also see over an inch of rain. The showers
and storms will exit the region Monday morning. Clouds will be on
the decrease during the late morning and afternoon. It will be
cool with highs in the upper 60s to middle 70s.

.LONG TERM...Monday Night Through Sunday
Issued at 211 PM CDT Sun Aug 7 2022

Upper-level flow regime over the northern CONUS will evolve from
weak zonal to strengthening northwest flow as notable upper ridge
is expected to build across the western High Plains into southern
Canada by mid-week. Thus, generally benign weather expected
through much of the extended forecast with below normal
precipitation and with seasonal temperatures for early July.

Relief from the high humidity and locally excessive rainfall will
be in full swing on Monday night as high pressure builds into the
western Great Lakes. The combination of clearing skies, cooler
temperatures, light boundary layer winds and moist soils from
recent rainfall, will favor increased radiation fog potential late
Monday night into Tuesday morning. If fog develops, it may impact
the Tuesday morning commute. Tuesday looks to be a nice mostly
sunny summer day with highs around 80 and light southwest winds,
except along the Lake Michigan shoreline where a weak lake breeze
may develop during the afternoon, keeping temperatures mainly in
the 70-75 degree range.

On Wednesday, an increasing west-southerly flow will allow
temperatures to rebound back into the 80 to 85 degree range. By
late in the afternoon, a weak frontal boundary is forecast to drop
southward and be orientated W-E somewhere across northcentral
Wisconsin by 21Z. Medium range guidance is also suggesting some
potential for some upper-level support associated with the LFQ of
an upper-level jet as well as some modest instability with mean
MUCAPES around 500 J/Kg or so just ahead of the front. However,
uncertainty lies in the exact location of the upper-level jet
core which will likely be modulated by how the upper-level
ridging evolves upstream. Did notice that the latest NBM cycle
has responded to this possibility by increasing low-end POPs
slightly across the northeast third of the forecast area during
the afternoon. Will keep the forecast dry for Wednesday afternoon
into Wednesday evening for now, but would not be surprised to see
a few isolated showers/storms near the boundary.

High pressure will once again settle over the western Great Lakes
for the remainder of the work week as the northwest upper-level
flow pattern persists. Average daytime temperatures should remain
near seasonal normals. By the start of the weekend, some weak
signals in extended guidance of a shortwave impulse diving
southeast around the northern periphery of upstream ridge that
could bring some precipitation in the area.

.AVIATION...for 06Z TAF Issuance
Issued at 1206 AM CDT Mon Aug 8 2022

IFR flight conditions are expected as an area of low pressure
moves northeast along a stalled frontal boundary and brings
showers and some thunderstorms late tonight through early Monday.
The activity will diminish from northwest to southeast Monday
morning with VFR conditions returning in the afternoon. CLearing
skies are likely Monday night, with dense ground fog possible late
Monday night through 13z or 14z Tuesday.

with locally higher amounts over 5 inches to portions of central
and east-central Wisconsin last night into early this morning.
