.UPDATE...
The remains of the afternoon convection are lingering across
southwest Florida early this evening in association with a weak
upper level disturbance. A few adjustments were made to the rain
chances for the next few hours to keep up with radar trends. No
other changes are planned for the evening update.
The main forecast concern through the rest of the week revolves
around the residual flooding in North Port, mainly along the
Myakkahatchee Creek/Big Slough Canal after the heavy rainfalls
during Elsa. While the flood waters in the area could still rise
slightly overnight, it will then take a few more days for the
sheet flow flooding to drain away from the impacted neighborhoods.
Any additional heavy rains in the basin would of course lead to
additional flooding, so the rainfall in the area will need to be
closely monitored through the upcoming weekend.

.AVIATION...
A few thunderstorms are lingering near KFMY and KRSW in southwest
Florida, and could cause brief flight category disruptions
through around 02z before dissipating. VFR conditions will then
hold through Friday morning, before another round of thunderstorms
develops in the afternoon.

.MARINE...
High pressure building into the waters from the Atlantic will hold
through the upcoming weekend, with winds and seas generally
remaining below headline criteria. As the ridge lifts slightly
north this weekend, winds over the eastern Gulf of Mexico will
become more southeasterly and easterly, allowing for increased
thunderstorm activity shifting west into the coastal waters
during the afternoon and early evening, causing locally higher
winds and seas.
