Mesoscale Discussion 0892
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0835 PM CDT Tue Jun 08 2021

Areas affected...Western North Dakota

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 248...

Valid 090135Z - 090300Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 248
continues.

SUMMARY...Gusty winds and hail remain likely with the strongest
storms.

DISCUSSION...Long-lived MCS cluster that has propagated west across
ND has forced an outflow boundary across ww248 into eastern MT.
Substantial cold pool from this MCS has contributed to quite gusty
southeast winds, at times speeds in excess of 50kt, well west of the
original precip shield. This may continue for a few more hours
before convection spreads from west to east across the watch. Hail
may accompany this eastward-moving activity before it weakens as it
encounters cooler, less buoyant air mass downstream.
