The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Central Kane County in southern Utah...

* Until 230 AM MDT.

* At 841 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain in the Hackberry Canyon area. Between 1 and 2 inches of 
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch is 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
  to begin shortly in the Hackberry Canyon area and into the Paria 
  River.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  mainly rural areas of Central Kane County

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Paria River and Hackberry Canyon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry 
washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a 
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

At 1144 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain 
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are 
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.
