.A significant winter storm is expected to impact the entire Four
State region with a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain from
today into Monday. Conditions are forecast to deteriorate today 
as a wintry mix of precipitation develops areawide. However,the 
heaviest precipitation, however, will be late tonight into Monday.

  across deep east Texas into northwest Louisiana and south-
  central Arkansas with lesser amounts elsewhere. Sleet
  accumulations of around 1 inch and ice accumulations of around
  one quarter of an inch possible across north-central and
  northeast Louisiana. For the Wind Chill Advisory, very cold wind
  chills expected. Wind chills as low as 5 below zero across 
  southeast Oklahoma and in the single digits elsewhere.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northwest Louisiana,

...Winter Weather Threat for this afternoon has diminished.
However, another system will move into the region into Wednesday.
As such, a NEW Winter Storm Warning will go into effect area wide
starting Tuesday at 6PM to account for this new storm system. This
system will be two fold, with a heavy snow threat to the north,
and a freezing rain/sleet threat in the south. Many of the
northern counties in the heaviest snow areas can see an additional
6-8 inches, on top of what has fallen with this first system. As
for the areas in the ice/sleet areas, accumulations of 0.3-0.5
inches of ice are possible. Additional snow will be possible area
wide as temperatures aloft cool, but these values will be one
inch or less...

on Thursday with our next approaching wintry system. This next 
winter storm will produce heavy snow of 6 to 10 inches along and 
north of I-30. Elsewhere, precipitation will start again with a 
freezing rain over to sleet mix. Expect a quarter inch to a half 
inch of ice accumulations before ending as snowfall of 3 to 5

  sleet accumulations will range from less than 2 inches south of
  the I-20 corridor to 5 to 8 inches north of the I-30 corridor.
  Ice accumulations of a quarter of an inch to a half of an inch
  with localized higher amounts will be possible from Deep East
  Texas across northwestern Louisiana, central Louisiana, and into
  south- central Arkansas.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northwest Louisiana, 
  southeast Oklahoma, south central and southwest Arkansas and 
  east and northeast Texas.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to noon CST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Treacherous road conditions will continue across the

For the 13/18Z TAF update, low stratus clouds continue to keep
MVFR cigs in place across most of our terminals with marginal VFR
cigs improvement possible by 14/00Z. By 14/10Z, most terminals
begin returning back to MVFR and potentially IFR for KLFK as our
winter storm impacts begin with -FZRA quickly entering our entire
airspace. Toward the end of the period, -PL is possible at KTXK,
however, -FZRA could arrive there first. Low level northerly flow
and mid-level southwesterly flow could present marginal LLWS
hazards, especially during the daytime hours. /16/

UPDATE...

Low stratus continues to blanket all of the Ark-La-Tex this
morning, and surface temperatures remain below freezing almost
everywhere except for our southern zones. Cold air advection,
also ongoing, is evident in this morning's KSHV sounding, with a
cold nose approaching -8 degrees Celsius, down about two degrees
in 24 hours or almost seven degrees in 48 hours.

Therefore, afternoon high temperatures and sky grids were
adjusted accordingly. Otherwise, no additional forecast
adjustments were necessary at this time. /16/

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of south central
Arkansas, southwest Arkansas, north central Louisiana, northwest
Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, east Texas and northeast Texas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight...

Some locations across southeast Oklahoma and adjacent counties in
Arkansas and Texas to remain below freezing today and tonight.
Elsewhere, high temperatures forecast to climb above freezing for
only a few hours. Precautions should be taken to protect pipes,
pets, and sensitive vegetation from cold related issues.

A mix of wintry precipitation will move into the region tonight.
Some accumulation of snow, sleet, and ice will be possible, mainly
on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday...

A significant winter storm is expected Sunday into Monday with the
heaviest precipitation falling on Monday. Initially, a mix of
snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected, transitioning to all
snow as colder air arrives on Monday. Event total snowfall
accumulations of 3 to 6 inches along with the possibility of ice
accumulations of around a tenth to a quarter of an inch can be
expected. The higher snow totals will likely occur across the I-30
corridor with the higher ice totals along and south of Interstate
20.

Yet another round of a potentially significant wintry mix of
rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow is expected Tuesday night
through Wednesday night.

In addition, extremely cold weather is expected Sunday through
Wednesday. The coldest temperatures are expected Monday night and
Tuesday morning as overnight lows fall into the single digits for
most locations. Road conditions will be very slow to improve, and
likely won't begin until late in the week.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Activation of emergency management personnel...amateur radio
operators...and storm spotters is not expected through tomorrow.
