thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Up to 0.5 inches of rain have
already fallen in spots with another 1 to 2 inches possible.

.SYNOPSIS...
An area of low pressure will slowly drift eastward near the
Pennsylvania and New York tonight through Sunday, then across
southern New England through Tuesday. A surface trough will
remain near the area through Sunday, before a cold front moves
through and offshore during the day into the evening Sunday. A
surface trough is expected to develop across the east coast
Monday into Tuesday, before another cold front move across the
area around Wednesday. Another cold front is expected toward the
end of the week next week. &&
.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
**Severe Thunderstorm Watch #382 in effect through 11 pm**
This evening...Two areas of concern this evening. One line of
thunderstorm clusters is located across southeast Pennsylvania
and central-northern New Jersey. This cluster of storms has been
very slow moving and has produced areas of flash flooding and
thunderstorm damage. The second area of concern is a line of
showers and thunderstorms approaching from the west. There
remains 2000-3000 J/kg of CAPE ahead of this line of showers and
thunderstorms, along with some weak shear of 20-25 knots across
the area. This has been sufficient enough to allow for storms
to become strong to severe and this will continue for another
couple of hours. As the line of storms approaching from the west
moves across the area, the storms are expected to begin to
weaken.
The Heat Advisory was cancelled as the temperatures and heat
index values will continue to lower now that daytime heating is
over and showers and thunderstorms will allow for temperatures
to cool.
Tonight...Showers will come to an end from W to E overnight and
patchy fog is possible. It will remain humid overnight and lows
will drop into the upper 60s to low 70s for the area.
Sunday...The upper trough will still be lingering across NY
state but drier air will have arrived at the mid/lower levels.
Overall, a fair weather day is expected with mostly sunny skies
early then mostly cloudy skies by afternoon. We will continue to
include a chance for a few showers, since some instability will
be present and enough moisture to produce a few showers is
expected. Temperatures Sunday will be closer to normal with
highs mostly in the low/mid 80s for the area. Also, dew points
will be reduced from earlier days, so more comfortable air is
expected.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
For Sunday night through Monday night, a long wave trough will
be in place across the east coast, while the cold front shifts
offshore and an area of low pressure continues to move across
southern New England. A surface trough will likely develop
across the area on the backside of the low and remain across the
area into Monday night. Several short wave/vorticity impulses
will move across the area during this period as well. There will
be a chance for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms
during this period.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
The long term period will be unsettled with at least a slight
chance of showers and thunderstorms each day, but two main
periods of higher chances Wednesday and Friday. For Tuesday, a
surface trough will remain in place across the east coast and
combine with a couple of short wave/vorticity impulses, and may
help lead to a chance of isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms. However, on Wednesday, a cold front is forecast
to move across the east coast, which should bring an increase
threat for showers and thunderstorms. On Thursday, another
surface trough is expected to develop across the east coast,
which could again lead to a chance of isolated to scattered
showers and thunderstorms. Yet another cold front is forecast to
move across the east coast later in the week around Friday
which will lead to a better chance of scattered showers and
thunderstorms.
Temperatures through the long term period are expected to be
near or slightly above normal.

.AVIATION /23Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.
This evening...Scattered showers and thunderstorms will
continue to pop up across the TAF sites, with a line of showers
and thunderstorms moving across the area between 00z-04z. A
period of MVFR to IFR conditions is expected in the heaviest
showers and thunderstorms. Mostly south to southwest winds 10
to 15 knots. Severe tstms are possible with gusts 45-55 knots
possible until 03Z.
Overnight...Showers and thunderstorms taper off by 04z, then
MVFR ceilings are expected to move into the area from the north
as far south as PHL to ILG. IFR ceilings are possible from ABE,
RDG, and TTN late in the night into daybreak Sunday, in addition
to light fog. Light variable winds.
Sunday...MVFR conditions will begin the day, then VFR conditions
will return through the morning Scattered showers are possible
later in the day. Light and variable winds early, becoming west
to northwest 10 to 15 knots with gusts 15-20 knots.
Outlook...
Sunday night-Tuesday night...Mostly VFR. A slight chance of
isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms which may
temporarily lead to lower conditions. West to northwest winds
5-10 knots, occasional gusts around 15 knots.
Wednesday-Wednesday night...Mostly VFR. A chance of scattered
showers and thunderstorms which may temporarily lead to lower
conditions. West to northwest winds 5-10 knots, occasional
gusts around 15 knots.
Thursday-Thursday night...Mostly VFR. A slight chance of
isolated showers and thunderstorms which may temporarily lead
to lower conditions. West to northwest winds 5-10 knots,
occasional gusts around 15 knots.

.MARINE...
Showers and thunderstorms this evening with severe storms
possible. Overall South winds 15 to 20 knots with some gusts 25
knots possible. We have decided to issue a Small Craft Advisory
through 2 am as winds could continue to increase in the next few
hours. Seas building 3 to 4 ft.
Sunday, sub-SCA expected with SW winds around 10 to 15 knots.
Widely scattered showers possible.
Outlook...
Sunday night-Thursday...Conditions expected to remain below
Small Craft Advisory levels. However, winds could gust around
20 knots at times. There is a chance of isolated to scattered
showers and thunderstorms each day which could lead to locally
higher winds and waves.
Rip Currents...
Southerly winds and swell will increase today with winds around
20 mph by this afternoon. Winds will become more southwesterly
on Sunday with speeds around 10-15 mph. Breaking waves are
forecast to be 2 to 3 feet with a medium period southerly swell
today. Breaking waves decrease to around 1 to 2 feet for Sunday.
As a result, the rip current risk is MODERATE today for the
more southerly facing beaches of Cape May, Atlantic, and Ocean
Counties, but will be low for Monmouth and Sussex County
beaches. For Sunday, we'll maintain MODERATE for Cape May and
Atlantic County beaches with low elsewhere, but the risk will
generally decrease throughout the day as the southerly swell
wanes.
