...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and 
increased in duration for the following rivers in Connecticut...

  Naugatuck River near Beacon Falls affecting New Haven County.

For the Naugatuck River...including Beacon Falls...Major flooding is 
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths 
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, 
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, 
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route 
over higher ground.

increased in duration until late this evening...

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Naugatuck River near Beacon Falls.
* Until late this evening.
* At 12:46 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 11.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage early this 
  morning to 14.9 feet this morning. It will then fall below flood 
  stage late this morning to 5.8 feet and begin rising again Friday 
  morning. It will rise to 6.4 feet Friday evening. It will then 
  fall to 5.9 feet and begin rising again Saturday morning. It will 
  then rise again but remain below flood stage.
* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 14.4 
  feet on 08/28/2011.
