...The National Weather Service in New York NY has issued a Flood 
Warning for the following rivers in Connecticut...

  Quinebaug River near Jewett City affecting New London County.

For the Quinebaug...including Jewett City...Minor flooding is 
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths 
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, 
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, 
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route 
over higher ground.

* Flood Warning for
  the Quinebaug River near Jewett City.
* From late tonight to early Saturday morning.
* At 12:30 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 7.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage just 
  after midnight tonight to a crest of 18.8 feet Friday morning. It 
  will then fall below flood stage Friday afternoon.
* Impact...At 17.5 feet, Norman Road and banjo Sullivan Road are 
  closed with water covering the roadway.
* Impact...At 20.0 feet, Water in basements of numerous residences 
  on School Street, Main Street, Soule Street, Railroad Avenue and 
  Mathewson Street.
* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.1 
  feet on 06/07/1982.
