.SYNOPSIS...
Moisture associated with an offshore tropical disturbance will
continue to produce unsettled weather through the rest of the
week. High pressure builds in from the northwest late this
weekend with drier weather expected early next week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 315 PM Wed...Warm and moist southerly flow continues
across the area this afternoon. Widely scattered showers and
thunderstorms continue this afternoon mostly east of US 17. This
activity is expected to migrate inland through the rest of the
afternoon, before dissipating right around sunset.

More sun than clouds have been seen so far today, and has
allowed temps to climb into the mid to upper 80s. Expect another
couple degrees of warming this afternoon with highs around 90
inland and mid to upper 80s along the coast.

A period of drier weather is expected this evening as
instability wanes across the area. However, shower chances
will increase after midnight across the coast as the circulation
of a tropical disturbance moves northward up the Gulf Stream.
Best chances for rain will be across Hatteras Island, with areas
west of US 17 remaining dry through the rest of the night. With
light flow and abundant low level moisture, another round of
fog and low stratus is expected to form overnight across the
coastal plain and eastward towards the coast. Low temps will
range from the upper 60s inland to the mid 70s across the OBX.

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY/...
As of 315 PM Wed...A tropical disturbance will continue to move
northward along the Gulf Stream tomorrow, reaching the offshore
waters off of Cape Lookout by late afternoon. Ahead of this
system, unsettled weather will continue especially across the
Outer Banks where periods of tropical downpours are likely for
most of the morning hours, possibly enhanced by a coastal
trough. Across inland portions of Eastern NC, the morning should
remain dry, with widely scattered showers and thunderstorms
possible during the afternoon hours. Warm and muggy conditions
will persist as well, with highs reaching the mid to upper 80s,
and dewpoints remaining in the low to mid 70s.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 315 PM Wednesday...As a low pressure system tries to
develop offshore, an unsettled period of weather will continue
into the weekend. In addition to the offshore low that the
National Hurricane Center currently has at a 70% chance of
formation over the next five days, increased moisture associated
with the remnants of Tropical Storm Nicholas will be drawn
northeastward ahead of and eventually merge with an approaching
frontal system. While rain chances will certainly increase, WPC
QPF over the next 7 days remains low with less than a half inch
forecasted. As far as potential tropical development is
concerned, ensembles show the system remaining fairly weak off
of the NC coast and holding off on any strengthening until
further north off of the mid-Atlantic coast. We will continue to
see slightly above normal temperatures through the period with
high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the mid
60s to near 70 degrees.

.AVIATION /18Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
SHORT TERM /through Thursday Afternoon/...
As of 315 PM Wed...VFR conditions are expected this afternoon
and through the first half of tonight, though a few scattered
showers and thunderstorms may briefly limit flying conditions
across the airspace. With abundant low level moisture present
again tonight and light winds inland, expect another round of
low stratus and fog to develop, which will bring conditions down
to at least MVFR levels, with a period of IFR conditions likely
around sunrise. Conditions should improve quickly tomorrow
morning, with VFR conditions expected the rest of the day.

LONG TERM /Thursday Night through Monday/...
As of 315 PM Wednesday...Periods of sub-VFR conditions are
expected as precipitation chances increase late week and through
the weekend. Fog/low stratus will be a factor, especially in
locations that receive rain. Predominantly VFR conditions
expected to return for Monday.

SHORT TERM /through Tomorrow/...
As of 315 PM Wed...Good boating conditions will continue this
afternoon and through tonight. A tropical disturbance currently
off the SE coast will move northward along the Gulf Stream
tomorrow and cause an increase in seas to 5-7 ft, and a Small
Craft Advisory has been issued for all the coastal waters.

Winds will continue to be out of the S 5-15 kts through
midnight, and then will back to the east ahead of this system.
Winds become NE later tomorrow morning at 10-15 kts, with some
gusts to 20 kts. Seas will be 2-3 ft through early tomorrow
morning, and then build quickly to 5-7 ft by tomorrow afternoon.

LONG TERM /Thursday Night through Monday/...
As of 315 PM Wed...Small craft conditions will continue
Thursday night and into Friday as a tropical disturbance moves
northward offshore of the NC coast. Seas of 4-6 ft will persist
through most of the day Friday north of Cape Hatteras.

Winds are expected to strengthen out of the north to 15-20 kts
