.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will prevail across the area through the next
week with warm temperatures and minimal rain chances.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THURSDAY MORNING/...
As of 945 PM Wednesday...Bumped down hourly Ts and Min for OBX
to account for stronger cooling observed. Remain just on the
colder side of guidance for the rest of the CWA. Rest of
forecast remains on track.

Previous discussion...
As of 7 PM Wednesday...Minor adjustments to wind this package
to update seabreeze location/progression. The rest of tonight's
forecast remains on track with a broad area of ridging over
eastern CONUS through all levels. Fair- weather Cu formed with
the passage of the seabreeze is dissipating with loss of
heating. Another dry night ahead. Clear skies and calming winds
set up a good radiational cooling night allowing temps to drop
to the low to mid 50s inland and low 60s for OBX. Patchy
radiational fog is possible in the morning hours before sunrise.
Guidance has more confidence in this developing along the
southern coast but inland areas were included per previous
forecast.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
As of 945 PM Wednesday...No adjustments needed.

Previous Discussion...
As of 7 PM Wednesday...Vertically stacked ridge across all of
eastern CONUS dominates the period. Any patchy fog that develops
burns off quickly following sunrise. Heights continue to build
as the ridge strengthens further leading to warmer temps than
today. Highs in the mid to upper 80s inland, low 80s for coastal
areas. Development of another seabreeze, albeit slightly weaker
than today, is likely tomorrow which would provide some relief
from the warmer temperatures. A very weak, north-south oriented
cold front moves in from the east late Thursday and washes out
as it gets inland. The difference in airmasses is very minimal
so not much in the way of sensible changes save for a wind shift
to the NE. This weak front was the deciding factor for keeping
highs along the OBX to around 80.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 300 AM Wednesday...Mainly dry conditions will continue
through the long term with temps warming to above normal late in
the week and through the weekend.

Thursday Night through Friday...Upper ridging will be the
dominate feature across the eastern CONUS this period with broad
subsidence keeping dry conditions and mainly clear skies. Easterly
flow will bring a slight cool down Friday with highs in the mid
80s across the coastal plain, mid to upper 70s across the sound
counties and upper 60s to around 70 across the OBX.

Saturday through Wednesday...The upper ridge slowly migrates
westward late in the week into the weekend allowing weak
shortwaves riding over the ridge dive across the mid-Atlantic
bringing a somewhat better chance for a few showers and tstms
across the region. Guidance is mixed with strength and timing of
these systems leading to a low confidence of occurrence and
continue to keep minimal PoPs in the forecast at this time.
Temps will be well above normal with highs inland in the upper
80s Saturday and into the low to mid 90s the rest of the period.
Coastal sections will be in the upper 70s/lower 80s coast most
days but westerly flow on Sunday is expected to warm temps into
the mid to upper 80s.

.AVIATION /02Z THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
SHORT TERM /through 00Z Friday/...
As of 730 PM...VFR prevails for the rest of the day and into
tonight. Fair-weather CU that developed this afternoon has
cleared. Clear skies and calm winds set up strong radiational
cooling tonight, making development of patchy fog possible
before sunrise. Guidance is confident in this occuring near the
coast, but given the set up, inland TAF sites were included in
the MVFR VIS forecast. Fog burns off quickly after sunrise.
Thursday, VFR through the day. Winds NWerly around 5kts in the
morning veer to become Eerly around 7 to 10 kts by late
afternoon. Brief period of gustiness with gusts up to 15kts is
possible late afternoon and into the evening. Scattered mid
level clouds build late in the day with a weak seabreeze
developing and a cold front washing out over the area.

LONG TERM /Thursday Night through Monday/...
As of 330 AM Wednesday...VFR conditions will prevail through
the long term but cannot rule out patchy light fog during the
late night/early morning hours.

.MARINE...
SHORT TERM /Tonight and Thursday/...
As of 945 PM Wednesday...Winds remain benign underneath high
pressure at around 5-10 knots across all waters with seas 3-5
feet with lingering long period swells at 11-12 second. Winds
are predominantly out of the SE, but will gradually veer to more
W/NW overnight. As a weak north- south oriented front moves
onshore on Thursday, winds become more N/NE, but speeds remain
quite light. Seas 2-4 feet for Thursday.

LONG TERM /Thursday Night through Monday/...
As of 330 AM Wednesday...NE winds around 10-15 kt will continue
Thursday night through Friday with high pressure building back
into the area from the NE. High pressure weakens across the area
Saturday bringing light and variable winds. Gradients tighten
again Sunday as a system passes north of the area bringing W to
SW winds around 10-20 kt.

Seas area bit more elevated with the latest models runs as an
area of low pressure is expected to become quasi-stationary NE
of Bermuda Thursday through early Sunday which will produce
an easterly swell across the waters. Seas around 2-4 ft Thursday
build to 4-6 ft Thursday night through much of the weekend and
SCA's may need to be issued later tonight.
