.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will remain in control tonight, sliding offshore
Sunday. A cold front will cross the region late Monday, with
cooler high pressure moving in mid week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...
As of 8 PM Sat...Limited cirrus coverage early this evening,
with winds beginning to decouple inland. The backdoor cold front
has reached the NC/VA border, and will work across the northern
OBX within the next hour or two, with the modest post-frontal
surge not likely enough to initiate substantial mixing inland.
Radiational cooling will occur quickly over the next several
hours, with lows in the mid to upper 40s still looking good.

Previous Discussion...Latest analysis shows strengthening low
pressure moving through the Mid-West with attendant front
extending eastward through the SE and Mid-Atlantic US. The weak
boundary will push through the area this evening and only impact
to sensible wx will be a wind shift. Init high pres will weaken
to the south with another center building in from the NW
overnight. Atms will remain very dry and will once again see
good radiational cooling inland as winds diminish. Lows will
fall to 45 to 50 for most spots. Beaches will hold in the 50s
with light breeze.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH 6 PM SUNDAY/...
As of 230 PM Sat...High pressure will gradually slide off the
coast as low pressure tracks through the OH Valley and Mid-
Atlantic and associated warm front lifts north through the
region. Should be another quiet and pleasant day with temps near
climo. Low level thickness values and developing southerly flow
will allow temps to warm into the mid 70s to low 80s.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 315 AM Saturday...Another fairly active pattern through
the week: a dry warm front lifts north Sunday, strong cold front
approaches Monday, building high pressure midweek leading to a
late-season CAD event, and another coastal low to impact the
area late in the period.

Sunday...A surge of 25-30 mph winds over the coastal waters
translates to a breezy Sunday night for OBX. Overnight lows are
substantially warmer than Saturday night, mid to upper 60s
across most of the area.

Monday...SFC low just off the New England coast swings its cold
front through the area, increasing the likelihood of rain and
chances of thunderstorms ahead of the front in the afternoon
into the evening. Highs Monday are the warmest in the period
reaching the mid 80s. Showers linger and potential for thunder
becomes limited to the frontal boundary as it crosses coastal
areas overnight.

Midweek...The cold front stalls well to our south through
midweek with high pressure building in from the north setting up
a late-season CAD event keeping temps cool, highs in the upper
60s/low 70s and lows in the upper 40s and low 50s. Guidance is
catching on to the CAD in place and subsequently are trending their
temps down. Have kept temps on the colder side of trusted
guidance but have not gone as low as some of the extreme
outliers.

Thursday and Friday...High pressure shifts offshore and a coastal
low develops along the front stalled to the south and lifts
northward. Naturally, details of depth and location of the low
are inconsistent model to model this far out, but have kept at
least mentionable PoPs in the forecast to end the period with a
chance of thunderstorms Thurs afternoon before drying out to end
the week.

.AVIATION /00Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
SHORT TERM /through Sunday/...
As of 8 PM Sat...VFR prevails with just come patchy high clouds
to speak of through the TAF period. Light winds tonight and
Sunday morning will become gusty SW as the gradient tightens
Sunday afternoon.

LONG TERM /Sunday night through Thursday/...
As of 315 AM Saturday...Cold front crosses the area Monday into
Tuesday with gusty SW winds ahead of it. Rain and tstorms ahead
of the front with showers lingering behind the front overnight
bring potential for localized sub-VFR flight cats. VFR prevails
after FROPA with high pressure building in and Nerly winds
through Wed.

.MARINE...
SHORT TERM /through Sunday/...
As of 8 PM Sat...The gradient remains pinched south of a
convergent boundary along the Crystal Coast and east of Cape
Lookout early this evening, and have extended the SCAs for the
coastal waters near and south of Cape Hatteras through 11 PM
this evening. Additionally, the backdoor cold front that is
currently near the NC/Va boarder and will work down the coast
later this evening is looking increasingly likely to produce a
brief period of 20-25 kt wind gusts immediately post-frontal.
However, duration is not enough to justify SCAs.

Winds grad diminishing and becoming more N/NEly through the
early morning hours. Seas 3-6 ft subsiding to 2-4 ft.

Warm front will lift north through the waters Sunday. E winds
5-10 kt early becoming S 15-25 kt late. SCA conditions likely to
re- develop late afternoon and early evening. Seas 2-4 ft
building to 3-5 ft late.

LONG TERM /Sunday night through Thursday/...
As of 315 AM Saturday...High pressure shifts south of the
waters and offshore Sunday, with winds surging out of the SW
late Sunday and all of Monday with gusts up to 30+kts ahead of
the next approaching cold front. SCA conditions are likely, and
a prolonged fetch will build seas up to 6-8 feet Monday. Front
sweeps offshore late Monday night into Tuesday, resulting in
winds veering northerly and weakening through Tuesday. SCA
conditions should come to an end sometime Tue morning.
