.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will slide off the coast tonight. Low pressure
will impact the region later Saturday into Sunday, followed by
high pressure next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 3 PM Fri...Latest sfc analysis shows 1023mb high pressure
centered over the Carolinas this afternoon. High pressure will
gradually slide offshore overnight as mid level shortwave and
sfc low over NM/TX slide eastward. Increasing mid and high
clouds overnight as stronger moisture advection develops. Cloud
cover should limit cooling, and could see slight non-diurnal
temp curve near the coast. Lows falling into the mid 40s to near
50 deg.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY/...
As of 3 PM Fri...A robust mid-level shortwave and strengthening
sfc low will track across the SE US Saturday, deepening as it
tracks through the southern mid-Atlantic Saturday night. Main
change this afternoon was to slow the arrive of the precip a
bit, thinking it will initially have a tough time overcoming
dry air in place. Widespread showers expected Sat afternoon and
evening. Low level thickness values and increasing cloud cover
support highs 65-70 deg.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 3 PM Friday...A strong low pressure area lifts NW of the
area Saturday night followed by a strong cold front Sunday. High
pressure builds back in early to middle part of next week.

Saturday night through Sunday...A robust mid-level shortwave
and attendant sfc low track will deepen as it tracks through
the southern mid-Atlantic Saturday night. Strong moisture
transport will surge into the area with PW increasing to near
1.5" bringing widespread rainfall. Latest guidance showing QPF
amounts generally around 1/2 to 1 inch but could be higher in
tstms. Significant shear will be in place with guidance showing
50-70 kt 0-6km bulk shear. Instability still looks limited with
MUCAPE only peaking around 500 J/Kg Saturday night as the low
tracks NW of the area. SPC now has most of ENC outlooked for a
Slight Risk of severe storms as a few storms could become severe
if the instability is realized. NAM 3K and NMM are the only CAMs
excited about the convection, and are currently showing a
bowing line moving through the southern half of the area Sat
night. A few lingering showers possible early Sunday but the low
will quickly lift away from the area with clearing skies. High
temps will warm into the low to mid 70s Sunday.

Monday through Thursday...High pressure will build into the
area early to middle part of next week with strong ridging aloft
bringing dry conditions and a warming trend with mid 80s inland
by mid week.

.AVIATION /19Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Short Term /through Saturday/...
As of 3 PM Fri...Pred VFR conditions expected through early
afternoon Saturday. Increasing mid and high clouds overnight as
high pressure shifts offshore. Sub-VFR conditions likely to
develop after 18z Saturday, with increasing shower chances and
MVFR cigs.

Long Term /Saturday night through Wednesday/...
As of 3 PM Friday...A strengthening low pressure center will
impact the area Saturday night with sub-VFR conditions likely
with gusty S to SE winds. IFR possible Saturday evening. Skies
clear quickly Sunday with VFR conditions returning however,
gusty NW winds continue behind the departing low. VFR with
lighter winds expected Monday and Tuesday with high pressure
building into the region.

Short Term /through Saturday/...
As of 3 PM Fri...Latest obs show variable winds 5-15 kt with
seas 2-3 ft across the waters. High pressure will crest over the
waters this evening, gradually shifting off the coast overnight
and early Sat. Winds will cont to veer over the next few hours
becoming pred S/SW 10-15 kt, then diminishing to 5-10 kt late
tonight and early Sat morning. Nice conditions to start off Sat
morning, gradually deteriorating throughout the day. S/SSE winds
increasing to 10-15 kt early afternoon, and 15-25 kt by late
afternoon and early eve. Seas 2-3 ft building to 4-6 ft late
across the southern waters.

Long Term /Saturday night through Wednesday/...
As of 3 PM Fri...A strong low pressure area will lift NW of the
area Saturday night. Expect strong SCA conditions to develop
late Saturday afternoon with a period of Gales possible Saturday
night with seas peaking around 7-11 ft. Issued SCA for the
northern waters, Albemarle Sound region and inland rivers, with
Gales south of Oregon Inlet. Brief period of gales possible for
the northern waters. Slow improvement expected Sunday into
Monday. High pressure becomes centered over the area Tuesday
bringing light winds and seas around 2 to 3 ft.

.FIRE WEATHER...
As of 4 AM Fri...The combination of low humidity (near or below
25% inland) and very dry surface fuels will result in an
increased danger for fire initiation and spread this afternoon.
A Fire Danger Statement has once again been issued.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
As of 3 PM Fri...Minor water level rises will be possible along
the soundside of the Outer Banks Sat night into Sun early
afternoon. Strong SSW winds will develop Sat evening, shifting
to the W Sun morning. High surf conditions with breaking waves
around 8 ft may develop between Oregon Inlet and Cape Lookout
Sat night.
