.SYNOPSIS...
Canadian high pressure will build overhead tonight through
Wednesday, before settling to the south Thursday. A cold front
will pass through Friday and an upper-level trough will build
overhead next weekend. Another area of low pressure will
approach the region towards the end of the weekend.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Could see a few light upslope snow showers this morning along
the Allegheny Front, but those should taper off quickly this
morning, and will likely not accumulate. Not seeing a lot of
activity yet other than maybe a few flurries here and there.
Blustery conditions are expected today as a tight pressure
gradient remains overhead between high pressure building in
from the west and low pressure departing offshore. This gradient
gradually relaxes throughout the day today, with winds
gradually becoming more calm as we head into tonight.
Temperatures today and tonight will be well below average as a
Canadian air mass pushes into the region. Expect highs only in
the 40s today, with gusty winds making it feel more like the low
to mid 30s. Clear skies and calming winds will lead to ideal
radiational cooling conditions across the region. This will
likely lead to the coldest night of the fall thus far, with
temperatures expected to be in the upper teens to low 20s, aside
from the metro areas which will stay closer to 30.

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
Surface high pressure slides offshore Wednesday into
Thanksgiving day. Meanwhile, upper-level ridging builds in
overhead. This will allow for a weak southerly flow to develop,
thus allowing for gradually warming temperatures each day. Highs
on Wednesday will reach the upper 40s to low 50s, and highs on
Thanksgiving Day reach the upper 50s.
By Thursday evening a cold front will be approaching the region
form the west, which will bring chances for some showers across
the region once again into Thursday night. As colder air pushes
back into the region, expect some snow to mix in over the
Potomac Highlands as well.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Cold frontal precipitation will likely have exited by Friday
morning, although upslope snow showers may persist for a time along
the Allegheny Front. As surface low pressure strengthens near New
England, gusty northwest winds are expected to develop. High
temperatures will plummet 10 or more degrees compared to Thursday's
values. The pressure gradient will remain tight through Saturday as
the low spins near the Canadian Maritimes, so blustery and chilly
conditions will continue.
For Sunday into Monday, longwave upper level troughing will persist
across eastern North America, resulting in continued below normal
temperatures. However, model guidance starts to diverge
significantly on other details, namely the timing and strength of a
possible shortwave trough/clipper-type system which might go on to
develop into a stronger low pressure system off the coast. At this
time, the greatest chance for any precipitation is in the northwest
flow favored Alleghenies. This period will bear watching however,
until models come into better agreement.

.AVIATION /08Z TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Brisk northwest flow is expected to increase again today due to
daytime mixing. Winds will gust to 20-25 knots, but will then
become light tonight through Wednesday as high pressure builds
overhead. Winds remain light, but turn southerly on
Thanksgiving Day ahead of an approaching cold front, which may
bring sub-VFR conditions with showers and Thursday night.
Northwest winds may gust in excess of 25 kt at times Friday and
Saturday (likely strongest on Friday).

.MARINE...
A Gale Warning remains in effect for the wider Bay waters this
morning until 6 AM. Winds will remain elevated today into
tonight. Winds will decrease below SCA levels on Wednesday
though, as high pressure builds toward the region and the
pressure gradient loosens. High pressure is expected to keep
the winds mostly light on Thursday. However as the high shifts
offshore, southerly winds will begin to increase ahead of a cold
front slated to cross the waters overnight into early Friday
morning which may warrant SCAs yet again.
Strong northwest winds will develop in the wake of the cold front on
Friday. Small Craft Advisory conditions are likely, and gusts could
potentially near gale force. Winds should lessen some by Saturday,
although SCA conditions remain likely.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
Tidal levels are falling rapidly this morning in northwest flow.
However, they'll likely snap back tonight into Wednesday as winds
become lighter, potentially rising further by Thursday as light
southwest winds develop. At this time, water levels are forecast to
remain below flood stages, although it could be close at sensitive
locations like Annapolis.
