.SYNOPSIS...11/316 AM.

Mostly clear skies are expected into the weekend. There will be
areas of gusty north to northeast winds across Ventura and Los
Angeles Counties through Tuesday, and again later in the week into
the weekend. Daytime temperatures will be slightly above normal
through Tuesday, then well above normal by Thursday and Friday.
Slight cooling is expected over the weekend, but temperatures
will still be above normal.

.SHORT TERM (TDY-WED)...11/939 AM.

***UPDATE***

A weak upper level short wave moving north of the area is
maintaining locally gusty northeast winds across the area but with
the exception of a few isolated locations in the Santa Susanna
Mtns and far eastern Simi Valley the winds are below advisory
levels and should remain that way. So all wind advisories have
been cancelled. Another mild day across the area today with highs
4-8 degrees above normal.

Light to moderate offshore gradients expected to continue through
Wednesday but with minimal upper support to work with so just
some locally breezy northeast winds expected. Increasing high
clouds expected Tuesday from a system passing north of the area
and most of Tuesday will likely be generally overcast, especially
northern areas.

***From Previous Discussion***

The short wave will move east-southeastward across northern
Mexico and into Texas tonight and Tue. Offshore gradients will
continue, but will be weaker. Upper support for winds will be
minimal. Expect some gusty northeast winds across the mtns and
valleys of L.A./VTU Counties late tonight and Tue, but winds will
remain below advisory levels in most areas. Although heights and
thicknesses will rise a bit Tue, there will be quite a bit of high
cloudiness which will likely offset any warming in the
atmosphere. There could again be some patchy low clouds and fog on
the Central Coast late tonight/Tue morning, but that is still in
question.

An upper high in the Pacific to the southwest of the forecast
area will strengthen to anomalously strong levels Tue night/Wed
and slowly approach the coast. Low level flow will remain offshore,
enough for some locally gusty northeast winds again in the mtns
and valleys of L.A./VTU Counties Tue night and Wed. However, winds
should remain well below advisory levels. Heights/thicknesses will
rise across the region, as will temps at 850 mb and 950 mb. Expect
several degrees of warming Wed, with temps in the warmest locations
west of the mountains likely getting close to 80 degrees. There
will likely still be some high clouds, but less so than on Tue.

.LONG TERM (THU-SUN)...11/457 AM.

A strong upper high will remain anchored off the coast of
southwestern CA Thu and Fri, with heights and thicknesses peaking
across the region. The upper high will become elongated in a north
to south fashion, with northerly flow aloft over CA. There will
be rather strong N-S gradients Wed nigh through Sat, peaking Thu
night or Fri night depending upon which operational model one
believes. In any event, there will likely be periods of gusty
northerly winds during that entire time. Max temps will likely
jump a few more degrees on Thu, with highs rising into the lower
to mid 80s in the warmest locations in coastal and valley areas.
Expect little change in max temps on Fri, and if anything there
could be a touch of warming.

An upper trough moving across northern CA into Nevada will likely
bring some cooling to the region, with gusty northerly winds,
though temps will still be above normal. Heights rise again Sun
and low level flow will turn more northeasterly, though exactly
how strong varies by model. Temps should remain above normal. and
gusty NE winds will affect portions of L.A. and VTU Counties.

.AVIATION...11/1635Z.

At 1615Z, there was a surface-based inversion at KLAX. The top
of the inversion was 900 feet with a temperature of 16 degrees
Celsius.

South of Point Conception, high confidence in 18Z TAFs as VFR
conditions are expected through the TAF period. Through 22Z,
there is a 20-30% chance of light turbulence/LLWS, especially
near the foothills.

North of Point Conception, moderate confidence in 18Z TAFs. High
confidence in VFR conditions for all sites through this evening.
For tonight, moderate confidence in development of LIFR/VLIFR
conditions at KPRB. Additionally, there is a 30% chance of
LIFR/VLIFR conditions at KSBP/KSMX 09Z-17Z.

KLAX...High confidence in 18Z TAF as VFR conditions are expected
through the TAF period. No significant easterly wind component is
expected.

KBUR...High confidence in 18Z TAF as VFR conditions are expected
through the TAF period. There is a 20% chance of light
turbulence/LLWS through 22Z.

.MARINE...11/835 AM.

For the Outer Waters, high confidence in current forecast. Small
Craft Advisory (SCA) level seas will continue through Wednesday
night. From Wednesday afternoon through Friday, there is a 70%
chance of SCA level northwest winds.

For the Inner Waters north of Point Sal, moderate to high
confidence in current forecast. High confidence in SCA level seas
through Wednesday night. For Thursday and Friday, there is a 40%
chance of SCA level northwest winds in the afternoon and evening
hours.

For the Inner Waters south of Point Conception, moderate to high
confidence in current forecast. There is a 60% chance of SCA level
winds across the western half of the Santa Barbara Channel
through this afternoon. Additionally, there is a 30% chance of SCA
level northeast winds nearshore from Ventura to Malibu through
early this afternoon. For tonight through Friday, high confidence
in winds and seas remaining below SCA levels for most areas (with
a 40% chance of SCA level winds Friday afternoon/evening across
the western half of the Santa Barbara Channel).

.BEACHES...11/835 AM.

Large, long period west to northwest swells will move through the
coastal waters for the next several days resulting in an extended
period of high surf and dangerous rip currents on all west and
northwest facing beaches.

For the Central Coast... A High Surf Warning remains in effect
through 3 PM this afternoon for dangerous surf between 15 and 21
feet with local sets to 23 feet. After the peak, surf will drop
to advisory level late this afternoon or early evening through
Tuesday and into Tuesday. Another set of large swells will move in
across the Central Coast by late Tuesday.  before increasing
again as another large swell moves in by late Tuesday night or
early Wednesday, with a 40% chance of reaching High Surf Warning
thresholds exceeding 20 feet.

From the Santa Barbara South Coast to Los Angeles County beaches...
The surf will remain at advisory levels through early Tuesday
morning. It may then drop to below advisory level for a short
period before increasing again as another large swell moves in by
late Tuesday.

High tides combined with the large surf will result in advisory
level minor coastal flooding and beach erosion along west facing
beaches from San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles County this morning.
Beach-goers should remain well back from the water, watch for
rogue waves, and stay off rock walls and jetties.
