.MORNING UPDATE...Winds continue to decrease this morning and the
small craft advisory was allowed to expire over the tidal lakes.
Minor adjustments to the temperatures were also made as
temperatures were not warming quite as quickly as anticipated.
However, no changes to the forecast highs were made as strong
solar insolation and dry air should allow for ample warming
during the afternoon hours. The rest of the forecast is on track

MORNING UPDATE...

Performed a gridded update this morning to reflect latest
observations across the area. Jumped on temperature trends early
this morning as many locations are a few degrees warmer than
anticipated, mostly due to how winds remained just high enough to
mix out overnight. We will see a steady warming trend later this
morning with another coolish/mildish day (depends if you are in
the shade or sun). For highs today, went a about 2-4 degrees above
blended guidance which places us generally close to the same as
yesterday with bright blue skies and ample sunshine. Also made an
adjustment to surface dewpoints, as the KLIX 12Z RAOB clearly
indicates ample mixing/low-level subsidence will be in effect
later today. This drops MinRH's into the lower 20's for many areas
along and north of I-10/12. But overall, not a bad day. If any
further adjustments are necessary, will continue to update. KLG

12Z TAF FORECAST...

Expect VFR conditions to prevail for all area terminals through
the forecast period. Surface winds for coastal TAF sites may be
breezy at times later this morning and through the afternoon,
especially for KMSY and KNEW with winds gusting to 15-20kts
bearing 030-050. Otherwise, not anticipating any significant
impacts with SKC expected through the TAF cycle. KLG

SYNOPSIS...

High pressure at the surface centered near Chicago this morning.
Upper troughs over New England and off the Pacific coast near San
Diego, and an upper ridge just moving east of the Rockies.
Temperatures mainly in the 40s at 3 AM CDT, but lower to mid 50s
where winds are coming off of the Gulf or Lake Pontchartrain. Dew
points range from the mid 20s to the mid 30s.

SHORT TERM...

Will allow Frost Advisory to continue to it's 8 AM CDT expiration.
Most locations still have at least 5 degrees to fall before frost
is much of a threat.

Western trough near San Diego this morning will weaken as it
moves into Texas on Sunday. If there are any impacts to our area
from this system through the weekend, it would be an increase in
cloud cover on Sunday. Not expecting any measurable precipitation
through the weekend.

We've gone a couple degrees above blended guidance today, as highs
on Thursday in the drier air got warmer than anticipated. Air will
be just as dry, if not drier, this afternoon. This will put most
in the mid 60s. Some concern that temperatures Saturday morning
will be just as cold as this morning in protected/drainage areas,
mainly in the eastern portion of the CWA. Can't rule out the need
for another Frost Advisory tonight, but likely much more limited
in areal extent. High temperatures will gradually moderate through
the weekend, with highs near normal in the mid 70s on Sunday. 35

LONG TERM (Monday and beyond)...

A broad mid and upper level ridge axis will be tracking across the
midsection of the country from the Great Lakes to the southern Gulf
of Mexico. The center of the high to pass across the local region
Tuesday. Strong subsidence aloft will lead to warmer temperatures
and clearing skies early next week. This will pull temps out of the
below normal category and send them to and eventually past
climatology for this time of year. In the low levels, a ridge axis
centered over the eastern Gulf will promote increased onshore flow,
and humidity values will begin to increase as well. Very light
coastal showers may be possible Monday and Tuesday but not carrying
in them in the forecast quite yet. Moderating regime will carry over
to the 2nd half of the week with highs reaching low to mid 80s by
the end of the forecast period. It's at this time, Thursday, that
the next system may be rolling through with increased Tstorm chances
and the potential for spring time severe weather.

Will allow Small Craft Advisory to wind down on schedule during
the late morning and early afternoon hours, with a buffer of Small
Craft Exercise Caution headlines for several hours after
expiration of advisory. Conditions should be more favorable for
