* From this evening until further notice.
* At 2:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 11.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late
this evening and continue rising to a crest of 13.0 feet Sunday
morning.
* Impact...At 12.0 feet, Minor lowland flooding, mainly forested
areas along the river will occur. Park and picnic ground off of
Highway 10 begins to flood.

at Evadale possibly becoming inaccessible. Flooding can be
expected in the low-lying areas of the Lakeview community in
Orange County.

the Calcasieu River Near Glenmora.
* Until Friday evening.
* At 7:45 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 14.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 7:45 PM CDT Sunday was 14.6 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage Friday
afternoon and continue falling to 11.9 feet Friday evening.
* Impact...At 14.0 feet, Some roads upstream from Glenmora,
including Strothers Crossing Road near the community of Calcasieu
and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have two to three feet of
water over the road and are subject to being closed. Flooding of
forested areas near the river will also occur.

* Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage early
Thursday morning and continue falling to 14.1 feet Friday evening.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet, If gage reading at Kinder reaches 18 feet,
flooding begins to cut off some of the roads around Topsy in
Northwest Jefferson Davis Parish.

* Flood stage is 2.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 7:35 PM CDT Sunday was 5.1 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 3.6 feet Friday
evening.
* Impact...At 5.0 feet, Lower end of Pickrel Lane near the river
begins to flood. Goos Ferry Road is impassable. Closure of the
Calcasieu River to recreational boat traffic is likely from the
Saltwater Barrier to the parish line.

* Forecast...The river will remain at flat crest of 26.0 feet
through Monday afternoon then begin a slow fall.
* Impact...At 26.0 feet, Moderate lowland flooding will occur. The
lowest homes between Deweyville and the river begin to flood,
especially in the Indian Lakes and River Oaks sections. Low-lying
roads and a few homes in Southwestern Beauregard Parish have some
flooding.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Lake Charles LA 146 PM CDT Thu May 13 2021 .DISCUSSION... Temperatures were in the mid to upper 70s across the area this afternoon. Some fair weather cumulus across the region provided some nice shade for outdoor work this afternoon. Northerly flow continued as high pressure settle further into the area. .SHORT TERM (Rest of today through Friday Night) Skies will continue to clear from north to south for the rest of this afternoon and evening. Overnight...winds should diminish with clearing skies. Some radiational cooling to take place overnight offset by some light northeast flow. This setup will make for a cool night with lows in the lower 50s north to the mid to upper 50s as one travels down to the I10 corridor. Lows should be near 60s along the coast. On Friday...the surface high will shift east during the late afternoon allowing for southerly flow to develop by late afternoon or early evening. Temperatures Friday night are not expected to be so cool over the southern half of the area but the southerly flow should not yet be established over the northeast part of the area. Therefore...Alexandria will probably fall into the upper 50s with the rest of the area in the lower to mid 60s. 06 .Long Term (Saturday through Thursday) Southerly flow and increasing moisture will become better established with warmer lows and warmer highers during the period. Upper level troughs will be on the west and east coasts with a weak ridge in the central part of the country. Over time...the western USA trough will amplify and move slowly east on Sunday with a few ripples of energy from the broadening trough moving into southeast Texas during the day. At the same time...the trough off the eastern USA will amplify and allow for blocking of any eastward moving systems from the Great lakes southward to the Mobile Alabama next week. This blocking pattern will keep the western US broad trough sending disturbances into the area to start out the new week. PoPs will be on the increase through the week as the western US trough approaches but unfortunately gets bottled up across the central and south central part of the country as the upper trough stalls. Therefore...expect a rainy pattern with not much focus at the surface to guide us of any potential flood problems for now. Overnight lows next week will be above normal with highs near or perhaps a degree or two above normal. Enjoy Friday and Saturday because it may be awhile before with see these lower relative humidity values return to the area. && .MARINE... Light to modest offshore flow will continue for the rest of this afternoon through midday Friday. Surface high pressure will slide east of the region Saturday allowing for onshore flow to develop and persist through much of next week.
