* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 2:00 PM CDT Wednesday was 17.8 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.5 feet
tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage Friday
afternoon.
* Impact...At 19.8 feet, IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 18 STRUCTURES NEAR THE

* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
tomorrow morning and continue rising to a crest of 17.1 feet early
Friday afternoon.
* Impact...At 17.0 feet, Minor flooding expected with the boat ramps
at Evadale possibly becoming inaccessible. Flooding can be
expected in the low-lying areas of the Lakeview community in
Orange County.

begins to flood. Goos Ferry Road is impassable. Closure of the

Saltwater Barrier to the parish line.

It will then fall again but remain above flood stage.

access roads to the river flooded.

Showers becoming isolated this morning over CenLa, Acadiana, and
the coastal waters. POPs were reduced to reflect that. While no
changes were made to the hourly temps, they are running a tad bit
higher than what is currently being observed. The stubborn low
overcast cloud cover has kept the area in the mid to high 60s all
morning. This afternoon, max temps might not make it into the mid
70s. In regards to the FF.A, is appears that we will allow that
to expire this afternoon. With light showers on radar now and
little to nothing expected going into the afternoon, it will not
be necessary to extend it.

Showers and thunderstorms have tapered this morning and will
continue through the afternoon. The layer of low OVC clouds have
been stubborn, with essentially little to no improvement of CIGS.
Only KAEX has meandered into MVFR, with the other sites dancing
between IFR and LIFR. A gradual improvement into MVFR is expected
for all TAF sites. Otherwise it will be a quiet TAF period with
breezy northeasterly winds.

A nearly stationary frontal boundary will continue to serve as a
focus for scattered to widespread precipitation this morning.
Expect CB to remain limited over the next couple of hours becoming
more numerous by mid morning with the aid of daytime heating. IFR
to LIFR ceilings at BPT, LCH and AEX are expected to improve to
MVFR by mid morning where they should remain. As the frontal
boundary slowly slides offshore, the precipitation will come to an
end by early afternoon. Moderate northerly winds will develop
during the afternoon which will continue into Thursday morning.

SHORT TERM [Today through Thursday Night]...
Very slow moving frontal boundary remains draped across the region
this morning, roughly oriented in the vicinity of the I-10 corridor.
Combination of frontal boundary and upper support has resulted in
fairly widespread convection. Given the 00z LCH sounding sampled
MUCAPE near 4000 J/kg and PWATS of 1.96" (well above the 90th
percentile climatologically), convection produced heavy rain
efficiently, and given a continued moist inflow, took some time to
form a cold pool capable of propagating MCS eastward out of the
region.
Given 12 hour rainfall of around 1-4" area wide and a swath of
around 4-6" where the heaviest rainfall occurred, soils remain very
saturated. So far only some showery redevelopment noted on radar,
but RAP/HRRR forecast soundings indicate pockets of MUCAPE around
500-1000 J/kg likely remain in the still saturated environment, so
we'll likely see some increasing thunderstorm activity going
forward. This will be further supported by some continued PVA and
upper level divergence. CAMs a bit split on how widespread or
intense convection becomes, but have overall handled this last event
poorly... As such, for now will play it safe and continue the
current Flash Flood Watch into the early afternoon.
By late Wednesday afternoon into the evening, best upper
support/forcing slide away while at the surface the front dips
offshore. Expect precipitation to finally begin tapering off more
substantially with drier air slowly working in. Expect better
clearing to wait until the day on Thursday, though the slightly
lower dew points will allow for cooler overnight temps by Thursday
morning. With high pressure ridging in at the surface, the drier and
cooler weather then sticks around into the end of the work week.

LONG TERM [Friday through Wednesday]...
SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY WILL CONTINUE TO
RIDGE SOUTHWESTWARD INTO THE FORECAST AREA TO START THE LONG TERM
PERIOD, KEEPING DRY AND SLIGHTLY COOLER CONDITIONS IN PLACE ON
FRIDAY. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS OF OFFSHORE FLOW, WINDS BEGIN TO TURN
EASTERLY AND EVENTUALLY SOUTHEASTERLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON INTO
SATURDAY. RETURN FLOW WILL THEN BRING ABOUT ANOTHER WARMING AND
MOISTENING TREND THAT WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE END OF THE LONG TERM
PERIOD.
GUIDANCE REMAINS IN RELATIVELY GOOD AGREEMENT WITH ISOLATED TO
WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS RETURNING TO THE FORECAST
ON SUNDAY, MAINLY ACROSS SE TX AND SW LA. BETTER/MORE WIDESPREAD
RAIN CHANCES CAN THEN BE EXPECTED STARTING MONDAY, WITH PERIODS OF
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING THROUGH THE END OF THE FORECAST
PERIOD. LUCKILY WE WILL HAVE SOME TIME TO DRY OUT OVER THE WEEKEND,
BUT FLOODING MAY STILL BECOME AN ISSUE EARLY NEXT WEEK WITH SEVERAL
MORE ROUNDS OF HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED.

Easterly to somewhat variable winds continue into Wednesday
afternoon along with showers and thunderstorms as a slow moving
frontal boundary moves through. By late Wednesday, offshore flow
develops and persists into Friday. By the weekend, surface high
