.DISCUSSION...
.CURRENTLY...
Under partly cloudy skies and southeast to south winds of 10 to 15
mph, temperatures are hovering in the mid 70s along the Florida
Keys. Meanwhile, local radars are void of any precipitation
echoes. On our marine district, winds are southeast to south
near 15 knots except near 10 knots on our western waters.

&&

.SHORT TERM...(Today through Sunday night)
A deep mid latitude trough over the Central United States
southward into the Gulf of Mexico early this morning will progress
quickly eastward but dampen out while lifting northeastward
tonight and Saturday. Despite most of the mid and upper level
ascent remaining well north of our region, ample low level
moisture and convergence should allow a broken band of showers to
cross the Florida Keys from mid afternoon through early this
evening, before exiting into the Straits. Thereafter, high
pressure over the southern plains will move swiftly northeastward
and slowly strengthen this weaken, resulting in a brief spell of
cooler and drier air. However, winds will clock around quickly to
the northeast to east allowing moisture to return along with
modifying temperatures beginning Saturday night. With that,
isolated showers will be retained starting on Saturday night.
Otherwise, windy conditions are expected along the Island Chain
for most of this weekend.

.LONG TERM...(Monday through Thursday)
The aforementioned high pressure cell over the western Atlantic
Ocean will retreat further eastward, as a weak cold front/trough
passes through our region on Tuesday. Beyond that, a modest region
of high pressure along the northern Gulf coast region will expand
eastward into the western Atlantic Ocean, allowing winds to
quickly veer to easterly toward the end of next week. Given
limited moisture and no distinct large scale ascent, only isolated
dime pops look good for most of the period.

.MARINE...
Manly gentle to occasional moderate winds will predominate
through most of today, before a cold front crosses our entire
marine district from northwest to southeast early this evening,
followed by fresh to occasional strong winds. With that, a Small
Craft Advisory will be hoisted for the outer waters of Mainland
Monroe and in and around Dry Tortugas for late today. In wake of
the cold front, winds will increase when a Small Craft Advisory
will likely be required for our entire marine district Saturday
through Sunday night, before abating appreciably early next week.

.AVIATION...
FEW to SCT strato-cu AOA FL015 are quickly moving across the island
terminals this morning. Not expecting any impacts to CIGs at this
time. Isolated to scattered showers look to develop after sunrise
and therefore have added mention VCSH to the current TAF cycle.
These showers will be in advance of and separate from a front moving
in from the west after 22Z this evening. Additional showers as well
as a wind shift are expected with the frontal passage. There could
be a break between the activity this morning and the front later
this evening but confidence is low.
