...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis IN has issued a
Flood Warning for the following river and creeks in Indiana...
Mississinewa River, Youngs Creek, and Buck Creek.
.Flooding is underway at Ridgeville on the Mississinewa River in
northeast central Indiana and Amity on Youngs Creek in central
Indiana as of late Thursday afternoon. Flooding will begin at Acton
on Buck Creek in the Indianapolis area by this evening. These
waterways are expected to continue rising this evening and crest
overnight.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

* At 4:15 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 8.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 4:15 PM EDT Thursday was 8.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 9.1 feet
just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage
early Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet, Johnson County Roads 350 S and 400 S west of
US 31 are closed by flood waters. Upstream in Youngs Creek
watershed, flooding of city of Franklin parks with flood waters
possibly 3 feet deep in some areas. CR 200 N at CR 75 W on
northwest side of Franklin and CR 250 S west of US 31 closed by
high water. Amity ditch is out of its banks.

* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 4:00 PM EDT Thursday was 11.1 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.9 feet
just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage
early Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet, Significant flooding of Mississinewa River
in northern Randolph County. Water is likely on SR 1 just south
of SR 28. West CR 825 N east of SR 1 and West River Road west of
SR 1 and possibly other county roads are flooded. Little League
field in Ridgeville is flooded. Noticeable agricultural flooding
in progress.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late
this afternoon to a crest of 10.6 feet just after midnight
tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening.
* Impact...At 9.5 feet, Flooding in progress along Buck Creek in
southeast Marion and northwest Shelby Counties. Flooding
primarily affects agricultural land and some recreational areas.
Flooding of Shelby CR 700N one quarter of a mile east of Shelby CR
875W may begin at this level especially if Sugar Creek at New
Palestine is 7 feet or higher.

Mississinewa River, Wabash River.
.The rain will continue into this evening and produce minor flooding
along the East Fork White, White, Wabash, and Eel rivers. Minor
flooding is also expected on Youngs Creek and Buck Creek. Moderate
flooding is expected on the Mississinewa River this evening.
Additional flooding may develop this evening into Friday morning,
and continue into next week. Dry weather will return Friday and
last through the weekend, allowing waterways to drain.

at 10.5 feet and falling steadily for the past 2 days.

submerged Pottsville Road. Oil stripped fields flood. Flood gates
must be installed at Hazleton.

.Rainfall Wednesday night through late Thursday evening has totaled
1 to 2 inches across much of central Indiana, based on radar
estimates and gauge reports. Radar estimates show the heaviest rain
fell in Carroll and Howard counties as well locations immediately
north of the area. This is producing flood concerns at numerous
locations.
Keep abreast of updated river forecasts and possible issuance of
additional river flood warnings.
Dry weather will return Friday and last through the weekend,
allowing waterways to drain.

about 2.5 feet lower. Lost River did not contribute much water
during this June flood and locally it was not extremely wet.
