...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of McPherson, northern
Reno, northwestern Harvey, Rice and Marion Counties through 1015 PM
CDT...
At 951 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Ramona to 6 miles northwest of Moundridge
to 9 miles south of Raymond. Movement was east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Hutchinson, Mcpherson, Lyons, Hillsboro, Sterling, Marion,
Moundridge, Inman, Buhler, Nickerson, Galva, Canton, Little River,
Goessel, Lincolnville, Ramona, Lehigh, Alden, Windom and Durham.
This includes Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 43 and 74.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
If on or near Marion Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 100 AM CDT for
central Kansas.
