The National Weather Service in League City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Jackson County in south central Texas...
  Northwestern Matagorda County in southeastern Texas...
  South Central Wharton County in southeastern Texas...

* Until 930 AM CDT.

* At 627 AM CDT, Radar indicating bands of heavy showers moving 
  repeated through the warned area. Local law enforcement reported 
  street flooding in Palacios with some roads barricaded. Between 1 
  and 3 inches of additional rain has fallen this morning on top 
  saturated soils from previous rains. Flash flooding is ongoing or 
  expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by showers and thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement.

  IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
           drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Edna, Palacios, La Ward, Blessing, Lolita, Markham, Midfield, Lake 
  Texana Dam, Danevang, Vanderbilt, Cordele and Morales.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small 
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses 
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
