  The island of Oahu in Honolulu County

* Until 415 PM HST.

* At 116 PM HST, radar showed that heavy rainfall was increasing 
  over Oahu. A more intense band of rainfall, with rates of 3 to 4 
  inches per hour, was approaching Oahu from the southwest. Rainfall 
  from this band will spread across the island over the next several 
  hours.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

  IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
           properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
           closures possible in some areas. Landslides are

At 223 PM HST, radar showed heavy rainfall continuing over Oahu. The 
highest rain rates were 1 to 3 inches per hour along the slopes of 
the Koolau Range. The Department of Emergency Management reported 
that Kapaa Quarry Road has been closed due to flooding.

AFTERNOON FOR THE ISLAND OF OAHU IN HONOLULU COUNTY...

At 242 PM HST, radar and rain gages indicated that rain rates of 1 
to 3 inches per hour were occurring over east Oahu from Hawaii Kai 
to Kualoa. The Department of Emergency Management reported deep 
ponding in Honolulu near the intersection of Dillingham Boulevard 
and Alakawa Street. The gage on Waikane Stream also showed an 
increase in water level which may result in flooding on Kamehameha 
Highway near the Waikane Stream Bridge.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

  remain high, especially in Waiahole and Waikane Streams. The 
  Department of Emergency Management reported that the westbound 
  lanes of the H-1 Freeway were closed near Middle Street.

continues to move in from the south. The Department of Emergency 
Management reported that Kamehameha Highway was closed from Waiahole 
Valley Road to just south of Haupoa Street.

  the island from the south over the next couple of hours, which 
  could contain pockets of rainfall rates up to 3 inches per hour. 
  More significant flooding hazards are possible, especially for 
  urban areas which have already experienced flooding.

EVENING FOR THE ISLAND OF OAHU IN HONOLULU COUNTY...

At 818 PM HST, the gauge at Waiahole Stream recently reported a 
rapid rise in water level. When this occurs, closure of Kamehameha 
Highway near Waiahole Valley Road is likely. The Makiki Stream in 
Honolulu also recorded a significant rise in water level, which 
could result in significant urban flooding near Kapiolani Boulevard 
and Kalakaua Avenue. Heavy rainfall continues to move over Oahu, 
especially across the urban areas and the eastern half of the island.

HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.

* At 948 PM HST, Oahu Department of Emergency Management reported 
  ongoing significant flash flooding, especially in the urban areas 
  of Honolulu. Several vehicle rescues, water evacuation requests, 
  inundated homes, and road closures have been reported. The H-1 
  freeway and several roads in town are experiencing considerable 
  flooding, so limit travel wherever possible.

  HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.

FOR THE ISLAND OF OAHU IN HONOLULU COUNTY...

The heavy rain has ended and flood waters are beginning to recede. 
Light showers will continue for portions of the island over the next 
couple of hours, but are not expected to produce significant 
flooding.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 600 PM HST Tuesday for Kauai, 
Niihau and Oahu.
