The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The island of Kauai in Kauai County

* Until 845 AM HST.

* At 622 AM HST, radar indicated persistent heavy showers developing 
  over already saturated ground, leading to rapid rises in water 
  levels in streams and rivers, especially along the north and east 
  side of the island. Rainfall over the mountains is expected to 
  continue.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
           properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
           closures possible in some areas. Landslides are
           possible in steep terrain.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  all of Kauai, but especially the north and east sides.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even 
if they are currently dry.

The heavy rains may cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain areas.

This warning may need to be extended beyond 845 AM HST if flooding 
persists.

This Flash Flood Warning replaces the previously issued Flood 
Advisory that was in effect for The island of Kauai in Kauai County.

THE ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...

While fast-moving showers will continue to move over Kauai from the 
northeast, the threat of flash flooding has eased for now, with 
water levels gradually receding in streams and rivers.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect as the ground remains 
saturated and additional heavy rainfall could lead to rapid runoff.
