The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The island of Kauai in Kauai County

* Until 200 PM HST.

* At 1102 AM HST, radar and rain gages indicated very heavy rainfall 
  across southeast Kauai. The most intense rainfall was over the 
  southeast portion of the island from Lihue to Kalaheo with peak 
  rain rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour. Kauai Emergency Management 
  reported the flooding of multiple roads on the south side of the 
  island.

  HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in
           drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and
           other low lying areas. Multiple public road closures
           expected, as well as landslides in steep terrain.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Lihue, Kapaa, Kalaheo, Kekaha, Kilauea, North Fork Wailua Trails, 
  Wailua Homesteads, Omao, Lawai, Koloa, Wailua, Poipu, Hanapepe, 
  Anahola, Moloaa, Waimea, Puhi, Wailua River State Park, Hanamaulu 
  and Eleele.

This warning replaces the Flood Advisory that was in effect for the 
Island of Kauai in Kauai County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even 
if they are currently dry.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on 
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

persists.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM HST THIS 
AFTERNOON FOR THE ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...

At 1207 PM HST, rainfall has eased over south Kauai. However, stream 
and river gages continued to show high water levels. Runoff levels 
will remain high, especially from Lihue to Hanapepe for a few more 
hours.

HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.

SOURCE...Emergency management.
