  The island of Kauai in Kauai County

* Until 645 PM HST.

* At 430 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the island of 
  Kauai. Rain was falling at a rate of 1.5 to 2.5 inches per hour. 
  Flash flooding is occurring or expected to begin shortly. The gage 
  on the Hanalei River shows the water level rising rapidly and the 
  water is expected to reach the road near the Hanalei Bridge soon.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
           properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
           closures possible in some areas. Landslides are
           possible in steep terrain.

EVENING FOR THE ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...

At 526 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the island of Kauai. 
Rain was falling at a rate of 1.5 to 2.5 inches per hour. Flash 
flooding is already occurring. Emergency management officials on 
Kauai report Kuhio Highway is closed near the Hanalei Bridge and 
flooding has closed Alamihi Road in Wainiha.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

* At 630 PM HST, emergency management reported that Kuhio Highway 
  remains closed at the Hanalei Bridge. Some homes have been flooded 
  on Alamihi Road in Wainiha. Additional rainfall has continued to 
  move over Kauai from the southeast with rates of 1 to 2 inches per 
  hour.

  Wainiha. Rivers and streams continue to run high as well. 
  Additional rainfall continues to develop and move over Kauai from 
  the southeast with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

  to develop and move over Kauai from the south. Recent heavy 
  rainfall has caused another sharp rise in the stream gages at 
  Hanalei River and the South Fork of the Wailua River. Kuhio 
  Highway remains closed at the Hanalei Bridge.

At 702 AM HST, radar indicated periods of heavy showers continue to 
develop and move over Kauai from the south. Additional heavy showers 
have formed over the eastern side of the island with rainfall rates 
up to 3 inches per hour. Kuhio Highway remains closed at the Hanalei 
Bridge, and the Keapana Bridge is impassable. Stream levels remain 
elevated across the island and are likely to rise with additional 
rain.

MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...

At 807 AM HST, radar indicated periods of heavy showers continue to 
develop and move over Kauai from the south. Showers have developed 
over the western half of the island, and over the eastern side over 
the slopes from Kapaa to Kilauea.  The heaviest showers have 
rainfall rates up to 3 inches per hour. Kuhio Highway remains closed 
at the Hanalei Bridge, the Keapana Bridge is impassable, and a 
mudslide on Anini Road is blocking one lane of traffic. Stream 
levels remain elevated across the island and are likely to rise with 
additional rain.
