...The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg SC has
issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in North Carolina...
French Broad River At Blantyre affecting Transylvania and
Henderson Counties.
.Numerous rounds of heavy rainfall have affected the Upper French
Broad watershed since Thursday morning, resulting in widespread
accumulations of 2-3 inches across Transylvania and Henderson
counties. This rainfall has occurred over saturated soils and is
causing rapid rises along the French Broad River and associated
tributaries from Rosman and Brevard to Fletcher and Avery Creek.
Expect Minor flooding to occur in the usual areas between Rosman and
Horse Shoe with extensive farmland and boat-access flooding and
potential low-end flooding of a few secondary roads. Expect
nuisance flooding of farmland, boat-access areas, and parks to occur
downstream from Horse Shoe to Bent Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Be especially
cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of
flooding. Avoid flooded roadways and low-water crossings and Turn
Around Don't Drown

the French Broad River At Blantyre.
* From Friday morning to Sunday evening.
* At 6:30 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 12.8 feet and rising rapidly.
* Minor Flood Stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above Minor Flood Stage
late tonight and crest near 18.0 feet by Saturday morning. It will
then fall below flood stage Sunday morning.
* Impact...At 17.0 feet, Minor Flooding continues. Floodwaters
continue to inundate farmland between the French Broad River and
the railroad tracks. Floodwaters may start to inundate the
shoulders of River Road near the Big Willow Road intersection.
Floodwaters continue to impact boat access areas at Grove Bridge
Rd. and Crab Creek Rd.
