What forecasters said that day

The local office's own words before this small craft advisory went out, as it sent them, from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet's archive of National Weather Service text.

NWS Eureka, CA wrote its last area forecast discussion before this small craft advisory went out at May 10, 5:32 AM PDT, 5 hours 55 minutes earlier.

Area forecast discussion, May 10, 5:32 AM PDT, 5 hours 55 minutes before
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
National Weather Service Eureka CA
532 AM PDT Mon May 10 2021

.SYNOPSIS...Temperatures across the interior will warm through
mid-week while coastal areas remain seasonable. No appreciable
rain is expected through the next week.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Dry conditions will persist for the next week as
upper level ridging builds over the eastern Pacific and the west
coast. High temperatures across the interior valleys will continue
to be much above normal temperatures through the work week with
highs in the 80s and 90s Monday through Thursday, followed by a
slight cooldown by the weekend.

With the building ridge and warming temperatures, the coastal
marine inversion will strengthen, supporting coastal stratus
during the mornings. However, skies will become partly to mostly
sunny by each afternoon. /SEC

&&

.AVIATION...As the gusty dry northerly flow continues, stratus has
developed overnight at the coastal terminals. KCEC prevailing VFR
conditions with only slight obscurations to visibility and guidance
suggests much of the same for the TAF period with winds easing from
strong to more of a fresh breeze late tonight. KACV is a bit
shielded from the northerly flow with moderate breezes reducing to
light air later tonight. IFR conditions at KACV will improve to MVFR
by late morning. Much of the stratus in the Humboldt Bay region and
Eel River Valley, appearing on satellite imagery, should scatter at
1000 feet by the afternoon. /EYS

&&

.MARINE...Gale force northerlies will persist across all waters
through the evening. Winds are then forecast to weaken over the
inner waters, but remain strong over the outer waters through
Tuesday. In addition, seas will remain steep and hazardous through
roughly mid-week. Thereafter, winds will diminish across all waters
Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, followed by possible
restrengthening out of the north next weekend. /EYS

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...Gusty ridgetop winds will continue through this
morning with low relative humidity values. Fuels remain marginally
receptive to fire spread. As a result, have continued headlines
highlighting this in the latest Fire Weather Forecast without
hoisting a warning. Though warm and dry conditions will persist
through Thursday, lighter winds are expected. /SEC
