...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS CANCELLED...

The National Weather Service in Eureka has cancelled the Fire
Weather Watch. 

Latest model guidance suggests that a lack of instability or any 
strong lifting mechanism will limit the threat for thunderstorms 
on Monday. That being said, isolated showers and even a stray 
thunderstorm cannot be ruled out Monday afternoon or evening, 
mainly from the Trinity Alps, northeast Humboldt, eastern Del 
Norte and western Siskiyou County. Meanwhile, the chance for 
isolated to perhaps scattered thunderstorms will exist on Tuesday,
particularly from the mountains of Mendocino National Forest 
across Trinity County and western Siskiyou County.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION National Weather Service Eureka CA 441 AM

.SYNOPSIS...Temperatures will warm into the 90s to low 100s this
weekend. In addition, periods of sunshine and mild afternoon
conditions are expected along the coast. Otherwise, showers and
thunderstorms will be possible next week as monsoon moisture spreads
north across the region.

.DISCUSSION...Quasi-zonal flow aloft is underway today with patches
of stratus along the coast, and some streaks of high clouds pulling
in from the southwest. 500mb heights tick up slightly through the
weekend. A warming trend will subsequently occur over NWRN CA, with
interior valley highs expected to range from the 90s to low 100s.

Otherwise, model guidance continues to show an anomalous plume of
monsoon moisture spreading west and north around an anticyclone
located over the Intermountain West. That moisture is forecast to
move across NWRN CA Sunday night into Monday, and then linger
through mid week. The moisture will initially be moving into a
stable well-capped environment on Monday, but terrain driven,
elevated isolated dry thunderstorms that can penetrate the cap will
be possible in the heat of the day. Models will struggle in
resolving these types of storms. In addition, a PV anomaly is
forecast to move north across the region as early as Tuesday, with
models diverging on the timing and structure. Ascent occurring
downstream from the feature combined with a moist and weak to
moderately unstable airmass will likely yield shower and
thunderstorm development. An upper low may then work its way into
the area from the south late next weak. Given the rarity of this
setup, and still much uncertainty in the finer details, well be
holding out in inserting thunder into the forecast at this time.

.AVIATION...This morning's stratus has again redeveloped as expected
with coverage extending from near the OR border to Cape Mendocino.
The marine layer is about the same depth as yesterday at this time
however there is less inland coverage. The thickest clouds are from
Cape Mendocino to around the Humboldt Bay area, with some patches
along the coast north toward Crescent City. Conditions at KUKI are
expected to remain VFR. Winds will be generally light, with
afternoon and evening gusts at KCEC. /MKN

.MARINE...Northerly winds are expected to continue through the
period, with occasional gusts to gale force across portions of the
outer waters. The latest forecast package continues to not support
Gale Warnings or Hazardous Seas Warnings, so will stick with the
strongly worded Small Craft Advisories. The Local gale force gusts
will be downwind from mainly Pt St George, but areal coverage within
each zone will be much less than 50%. A NW swell and a long period
SSW swell will return to the waters late in the weekend, but both of
these swell trains are expected to be fairly small, and the forecast
will be dominated by the short period, locally generated waves.
