.SYNOPSIS...
Elsa will continue to bring impacts to the region through this
morning before it moves away from the area this afternoon. An
unsettled weather pattern will persist through the middle of
next week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
This morning and today: Surface analysis shows that the center
of Elsa is currently situated just inland of the forecast area
across Burke, Aiken, and Barnwell counties. The last line of
strong convection associated with Elsa is now crossing the
Charleston metro area and should push east of the Santee River
in the next couple of hours. Behind this last line of convection
there is very little shower activity ongoing and we should see
a lull in precipitation through much of the morning. Through the
afternoon, the area will still be under the influence of a
shortwave aloft and we should see at least isolated to scattered
diurnal convection. The overall severe threat this afternoon is
low. Cloud cover will be slow to erode this afternoon and highs
will top out in the mid to upper 80s.

Tonight: Evening convection across land areas will come to an
end and the focus for additional showers and thunderstorms will
become confined to the adjacent coastal waters. Expect typical
summertime lows with temperatures in the low to mid 70s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Friday and this weekend should be a turning point when a
typical summer-like pattern returns. Surface high pressure over
the Atlantic will begin to build in over the Southeast and Gulf
of Mexico as Elsa departs and nears the New England coast.
Tropical moisture will likely remain, however rain chances are
expected to be significantly less. Models show weak shortwave
energy passing over the area that could provide some forcing for
showers and possibly a thunderstorm each afternoon especially
considering moderate instability and deep moisture in place. The
greatest surface convergence mostly targets the Georgia
counties as well as the inland South Carolina counties.
Therefore, slight chance PoPs cover the coast and chance PoPs
cover the GA counties each afternoon/evening.

High temperatures will reach the upper 80s/low 90s each day.
Lows should remain rather steady each night dropping into the
lower/mid 70s, and warmer along the beaches.

&&

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Slightly below normal high temperatures should climb to near
normal over the weekend and into early next week as an upper
ridge sets up over the Southeast. By the middle of next week,
drier conditions could set up with strong high pressure
dominating the eastern CONUS.

.AVIATION /10Z THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
The last line of thunderstorms associated with Elsa has moved
past KCHS, KJZI, and KSAV. Winds will remain gusty at times
through the morning as the pressure gradient remains tight
around the circulation of Elsa. We could see additional isolated
to scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, but
confidence in direct impacts is low so no mention has been added
to the TAF's.

Extended Aviation Outlook: Flight restrictions are possible due
to showers and thunderstorms each afternoon/evening through the
weekend.

.MARINE...
This morning through tonight: The center of Elsa is situated
inland across interior southeast Georgia and southeast South
Carolina. Strong winds continue across the local waters with
frequent gusts into the 35-45 knot range. Tropical Storm
Warnings continue for all waters, though winds should drop off
enough to allow the warnings to come down from southwest to
northeast through the morning. Once the warnings come down we
will need Small Craft Advisories for at least portions of the
waters, mainly the South Carolina waters. By the late afternoon
hours winds will drop off mostly into the 15-20 knot range,
highest in the Charleston County waters. Overnight, winds will
be 15-20 knots and seas will gradually diminish to 2-4 feet by
sunrise Friday.

High Surf: The potential for 5 ft breakers in the surf zone
will continue along the entire coast for the next several hours.
The High Surf Advisory continues for the Georgia coast and
Beaufort County through 8 am, and through 11 am for the Colleton
and Charleston county coast.

Friday through Tuesday: We should begin to see some
improvements Friday morning as Elsa tracks northeast along the
New England coast. Seas will lower to 4 feet or less; however,
15 to 20 kt gusts could continue through the weekend.
Thereafter, expect 2-3 foot seas and southerly winds averaging
10-15 kt into early next week.

Rip Currents: A High Risk of rip currents continues for all
beaches today. A moderate risk of rip currents is forecast for
Friday along the South Carolina beaches and a low risk along the
Georgia beaches.

At 358 AM EDT, National Weather Service doppler radar indicated
strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles northeast of
Dorchester to near Delemar Crossroads, and moving northeast at 65
mph.

HAZARD...strong winds 45 to 55 mph.

SOURCE...Radar Indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
         light, unsecured objects.

Some locations in the path of these storms include...
North Charleston, Summerville, Givhans Ferry State Park, Dorchester,
Ridgeville, Delemar Crossroads, Givhans and Jedburg.
