The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a
* Flood Warning for Small stream in...
Southeastern Chautauqua County in western New York...
* Until noon EDT.
* At 911 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between
0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen.
* Recent heavy rains combined with an additional inch of rainfall
over the past 1 to 2 hours has resulted in rapid rises on the
Chadakoin River that runs through Falconer and Jamestown. Current
stage is 4.8 feet and rising rapidly. Moderate flooding is
occuring in low lying areas in the warned area. Major flooding is
likely. Major flooding occurs when the Chadakoin River reaches 5.0
feet.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jamestown and Falconer.
Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the
warned area.

TODAY FOR SOUTHEASTERN CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY...
At 1051 AM EDT, The Chadakoin River at Falconer crested at 4.82 feet
and is now falling with a current stage of 4.4 feet. This is still
minor flood stage until the river falls below 4.0 feet. Flood waters
are expected to continue slowly receding through late this morning.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jamestown and Falconer.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY...
Flood waters have receded. The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no
longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining
road closures. The Chadakoin River at Falconer crested at 4.82 feet
earlier this morning and has now fallen to a current stage of 3.7
feet, which is now below flood stage. Another area of heavier rain
may move through the area later this afternoon, so be sure to
monitor the situation.
