Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have

ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

.AVIATION...IFR to LIFR conditions expected due to OVC ceilings
between FL005-010 and reduced visibilties from -DZ through
18/00z. Thereafter, higher BKN-SCT ceilings with MVFR conditions,
becoming VFR after 19/06-08z as skies clear. Winds will be mainly
from the NNW-N at 13-18 kts.

SHORT TERM (Today through Friday):

Another cold day is in store for the area as the combination of
abundant cloud cover and northerly winds will maintain high
temperatures in the 40s. Winds are also expected to pick up
somewhat, increasing to 15 to 20 mph at times. This will make for
colder real-feel readings, which will remain mostly in the 30s.
Unfortunately, another widespread deep freeze is expected for
tonight into Friday morning as an arctic high pressure will be
moving over Texas, bringing in even colder air to the area. This
will cause temperatures to dip into the 20s and with winds
expected to remain at around 10 mph, real-feel temperatures will
be in the teens and lower 20s. As a result, hard freeze and wind
chill headlines will be needed during this period. After a cold
start to the day on Friday, high temperatures are expected to
rebound into the 50s under plenty of sunshine as surface high
pressure will provide subsidence, limiting cloud cover.

LONG TERM (Friday Night through Wednesday):

A return to a more typical weather pattern is in store for the
long-term period. However, before we get there, another light
freeze is possible for Friday night as with under clear skies and
light winds, temperatures will drop into the upper 20s across the
northern ranchlands and into the middle 30s in the Rio Grande
Valley area. Then, beginning on Saturday and continuing through
the rest of the long term period, the pattern changes. As surface
high pressure moves eastward, winds will become more southerly.
This, in combination with fair weather skies, will cause
temperatures to rebound. Highs on Saturday will be in the 60s.
Then, beginning on Sunday and continuing through most of next
week, temperatures are expected to rebound to more seasonable
levels, with highs in the 70s and low 80s. The only exception will
on Monday as high temperatures will stay mostly in the 60s due to
the passage of a weak cold front.

In terms of precipitation chances, most of the long term period is
expected to remain dry as a mid-level ridge will establish itself
over Texas, resulting in dry air and subsidence aloft. On Monday,
a weak cold front, as previously mentioned, moves across south
Texas in association to an area of low pressure moving across the
Great Lakes Region. However, little to no precipitation is
expected with the passage of the front as low-levels remain dry
and the forcing for ascent will remain north of the area.

MARINE: Moderate to strong northerly winds between 15 and 25
knots will result in hazardous seas across the Gulf waters today
through Friday afternoon, with wave heights expected to range
between 6 and 10 feet. Therefore, Small Craft Advisories are in
effect. Small Craft Advisories are also in effect for the Lagunas
as the strong northerly winds will result in rough conditions.
Conditions will become much more tranquil beginning late Friday
and continuing throughout the upcoming weekend.

Freeze Warning in effect for the northern Ranchlands until 9 AM
CST.

Very cold temperatures are expected tonight into Friday morning
with lows in the 20s and to around 30 degrees, with wind chill
readings in the teens and 20s. Therefore, hard freeze and wind
chill headlines will needed across the entire area for tonight
into Friday morning.

Another freeze is likely, especially across the northern
