The remnant low of Ida will track northeast of the area today,
then push off the coast tonight. High pressure builds in from
the north Thursday through Sunday. A weak front crosses the area
late Sunday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 320 AM EDT Wednesday...

Remnant low of Ida progged to track ne along the mts this morning,
across nrn VA this aftrn, PA/NJ this eve then into New England by
12Z Thurs. Its trailing cold front moves across the area later
today, pushing off the coast after midnite. This track keeps the
synoptically driven widespread rainfall north of the local area.
Meanwhile, models continue to show plumes of tropical moisture
tracking west to east resulting in several bands of shwrs/strms
across the area later this morning thru this eve. Given PW's aoa 2
inches, locally hvy downpours could result in some minor flooding
issues, but the progressive nature of the cells is not conducive for
any widespread flash flooding. WBC keeps areas mainly north of a SBY-
PTB-AVC line in a SLGT day 1 ERO. Total QPF btwn 1 to 1.5 inches
north, less than 1 inch south.

Main threat this aftrn/eve will be spin-up supercell tornadoes
(highest across the northern zones closer to the overall better
forcing and helicity potential). SPC has most of the area in a SLGHT
svr risk for this with an ENH risk across Dorchester/Wicomico Md.
Highest PoPs will be this aftrn/eve, tapering off after midnite as
the front pushes off the coast.

Expect a wide range in temps (due to cloud coverage and pcpn). Highs
from the upr 70 to arnd 80 nw to the lwr 90s across the se due to a
good deal of morning heating. Lows tonite lwr 60s nw to lwr 70s
se.

remnant low. This feature tracks ne of the local area this aftrn
and eve before pushing off the coast later tonite. Plumes of
tropical moisture will stream north across the area Wed with sct
to nmrs shwrs thru out the day. Tstms look more likely after 18Z
so only indicated VCTS at RIC/SBY for now. Tightening pres gradient
ahead of the low increases the south winds Wed with gusty 15-25 KTS.
Look for VFR CIGS to lwr to MVFR later Wed with lcl IFR VSBYS in
lclly hvy downpours.

OUTLOOK...
Dry/VFR conditions return Thurs thru the upcoming weekend. NNE
winds will be a bit gusty near the coast Thurs into early Fri.

.MARINE...
As of 345 PM EDT Tuesday...

Afternoon weather analysis shows TD Ida centered over northern AL
with weak high pressure off the SE coast. Winds are out of the S and
SW at 5-10 kt. Waves in the bay are around 1 ft with seas offshore 2-
3 ft.

Winds turn to the east and southeast tonight as the gradient begins
to tighten ahead of the remnant low. The low becomes elongated from
SW to NE across land areas by Wednesday morning with southerly winds
increasing considerably by Wednesday afternoon to 20-25 kt. The
strongest winds will be focused to the north/closer to the center of
low pressure Wednesday night with 20-30 kt sustained winds possible
in the bay and 25-30 kt offshore. Frequent gusts to 35 kt can be
expected Wednesday night into early Thursday. Accordingly, have
issued a Gale Watch for most of the Ches Bay and northern coastal
waters starting at 1pm Wednesday. Elsewhere, Small Craft Advisories
will certainly be required for the remaining waters as well but
given some lingering uncertainty regarding where the strongest winds
will set up, will hold off on any additional headlines with this
package. After the low crosses the area early Thursday morning,
winds turn NW and N behind the trailing cold front. Guidance
continues to indicate the potential for substantially cooler and
drier air to filter southward on the back side of the system. Thus,
a northerly CAA surge will keep winds 20-25 kt through Thursday
afternoon before slowly weakening into the evening/overnight hours.
Waves will build to 2-4 ft Wednesday afternoon with the potential
for 3-5 ft waves (highest N) in the Ches Bay Wednesday night. 2-4 ft
waves will continue during the northerly surge on Thursday before
falling to 1-3 ft by sunrise on Friday. Offshore, seas will build to
4-6 ft S and 5-8 ft N by early Thursday. Seas will subside along
with the winds on Friday but will take some time to fall below 5 ft.

Much nicer conditions are expected this weekend with high pressure
building into the region.

A Moderate Rip current risk is expected on Wednesday with a High
Risk of rip currents for all beaches on Thursday.

Increasing southerly flow up the Ches Bay may result in some minor
flooding issues at Cambridge/Bishops Head MD and Lewisetta VA

The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Ida will pass by north of the
region this afternoon and evening. The trailing cold front will push

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southeast Maryland, northeast
North Carolina, eastern Virginia and southeast Virginia.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Ida will pass by north of the
region this afternoon and evening. The trailing cold front will push
off the coast overnight. Showers and thunderstorms associated with
this system could produce localized instances flash flooding. Isolated
severe storms and a couple of tornadoes will also be possible.

...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northwestern Louisa
County through 1230 AM EDT...

At 1209 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Boswells Tavern, or 10 miles southwest of Orange, moving northeast at
30 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Boswells Tavern, Gordonsville and Waldrop.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
