A 1018 mb low 200 NM west of Utqiagvik will move northwest tonight
and weaken. A weather front extending from this low east to 
Barter Island will persist along the Arctic Coast of Alaska 
through Wed. A 1016 mb low over the Nulato Hills will move to the
Central Brooks Range late Wed and to the Eastern North Slope of 
Alaska on Thu, then persist into Fri.

.SYNOPSIS...
Isolated PM thunderstorms are expected southeast Ft Yukon to Tok
today, then southeast of Coldfoot to Delta Junction on Wed, then
east of Coldfoot to Eagle on Thu, with little chance on Fri.

A low at the surface and aloft over the Nulato Hills will move to
near Huslia tonight, then to near Bettles on Wed, to near Atigun
Pass Wed night and Thu am, and to near Deadhorse Thu PM. An area
of showers near this feature will accompany the low as it moves
northeast. Expect showers to become more enhanced Wed from Bettles
to Atigun Pass as the low encounters the more moist air over the
Eastern Interior and the southwest upslope flow aids in setting
off convective showers. With snow levels near 3000 ft. could see
another significant snow in the Atigun Pass Area Wed and Wed
night, and could see 4-7 inches of snow above 3000 feet, with 2-4
inches over the Dalton Highway north of the Brooks Range Wed
night through Thu night. Could see blowing snow issues near
Kaktovik on Thu and Fri.

Stratus and fog over the North Slope will persist for much of this
week. Stratus and fog developing along the West Coast today will
continue into Wed, then decrease Wed night as east winds develop.

A weather front moving into the southeast Bering and Northern Gulf
of Alaska on Thu will move north over the West Coast and southern
Interior on Thu night and Fri. This will cause moderate southerly
Chinook winds to the Alaska Range Thu and Fri and bring rain to
The West Coast and Western Interior Thu night and Fri. Near Red
Flag conditions expected Thu along the north slopes of the Alaska
Range.

.DISCUSSION...
At 12Z, models initialize well on most features, but all are too
weak on a deep and tight h500 center located over Norton Sound
and also the one near Point Lay. Expect that those features will
remain slightly deeper than models indicate. Since the NAM keeps
the Norton Sound feature deeper than other models, and as a result
moves it NE more slowly, we will use the NAM for the features
aloft and keep in mind that even the NAM may move that feature too
fast.

With precip, the NAM is more limited in areal coverage today that
what is actually occuring. The GFS and ECMF have a broader areal
coverage more similar to what is occuring today, and keep a
broader areal coverage than the NAM through tonight. By Tue and
Wed the NAM areal coverage is more similar to what the GFS and
ECMF are showing, then by Wed night and Thu the NAM lingers the
precip over the Brooks Range longer than the GFS and ECMF. We will
handle this by using a blend of the GFS and ECMF precip areal
coverage and amounts through 4am Wed, then use a blend of the
NAM, GFS and ECMF on Wed into Thu, then go with mainly the NAM
precip areal coverage and amounts Thu night and Fri.

At the surface at 15Z, models all verify well. Models show similar
solutions through Wed morning, then after that the NAM keep the
surface low over the Interior deeper and moves it more slowly than
the ECMF and GFS. Given the NAM preference aloft, and the fact
that the low is vertically stacked, prefer the NAM surface from
Wed PM into Fri.

Bottom line for models is that we will use a blend of the GFS and
ECMF precip areal coverage and amounts through 4am Wed, then use
a blend of the NAM, GFS and ECMF on Wed into Thu, then go with
mainly the NAM precip areal coverage and amounts Thu night and
Fri.. For temps, wind and clouds will use a blend of models into
Wed, then use the NAM for Wed night into Fri.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.

.FIRE WEATHER...

.HYDROLOGY...
River south of the Yukon River are mainly ice free. The Yukon
still has some ice downstream of the bridge, but ice is broken up
and appears to be moving along well with no jamming. Rivers north
of the Yukon are starting to break up with the Koyukuk and
Buckland rivers mostly clear of ice, as is the Kobuk upstream of
Kobuk village. The Kobuk River downstream of the village still has
sections of ice so people in Kobuk, Shungnak, Ambler and Selawik
will need to remain alert for possible jams. North of the Kobuk,
