The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Bernalillo County in central New Mexico...

* Until 600 PM MDT.

* At 355 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.25 and 1.00 inch of 
  rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.50 to 1.25 inch 
  are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or 
  expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Albuquerque, Los Ranchos De Albuquerque, Tijeras, Sandia Heights, 
  North Valley, Cedar Crest, Sandia Park, South Valley, Carnuel and 
  Alameda.

This includes the following highways...
	Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 218 and 235.
	Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 157 and 174.

Significant runoff from the Sandia Mountains will create fast and 
dangerous flows within arroyos and diversion channels within the 
eastern parts of the Albuquerque Metro area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of normally 
dry arroyos and streambeds, low water crossings, intersections and 
underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low lying areas.

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and 
dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MDT THIS EVENING 
FOR BERNALILLO COUNTY...

At 431 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated slow-moving thunderstorms 
producing moderate to heavy rain across the warned area. Between 
0.50 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen in the Sandia Mountains and 
northeast heights of Albuquerque. Additional rainfall amounts of 
0.25 to 0.50 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding 
is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

         flash flooding.
