.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will continue slide across the region through
this evening. A low pressure riding along a front to our
southeast will bring some precipitation to portions of our
region tonight into Wednesday. An upper level trough is expected
to track through the region Thursday as high pressure builds
into the area heading towards the weekend. A low pressure system
should briefly impact the region Friday night into Saturday
with High pressure returned for the weekend.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING/...
9 PM Update...As of mid evening, some very light precip
beginning to move into portions of the Lehigh Valley and
southern Poconos into NW NJ. Somewhat heavier precip still off
to the south and west but will be moving in over the next couple
hours. Some adjustments were made to temperature grids over the
north as they've been cooling a little faster than previously
forecast as the precip moves in. Also made some minor
adjustments to POP grids for this evening but otherwise,
forecast on track.

Previous Discussion: Surface trough and mid level shortwave
will move through area tonight with some light showers moving
through the region. Clouds will increase through this evening
and showers will move in tonight, with the bulk of the region
seeing light precipitation closer to midnight. Not a lot of
moisture to work with (unlike what we had on Monday) so expect
totals to be fairly light. Most areas will see around a tenth of
an inch or less with some places in our southern areas may see
up to a quarter of an inch. Most of the showers should end by
early morning, with just a few showers remaining along the
coastal strip of NJ and DE.

Colder air will push down from the north and few snow flakes
may mix in across the higher elevations of the southern Poconos.
Not expecting much in the way of accumulation but we could see
a few tenths accumulate on the ground in a few spots.

Overnight lows will generally be in the mid/upper 30s to around
40 with some upper 20s possible across portions of the southern
Poconos.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH 6 PM WEDNESDAY/...
Strong upper level jet will drop down through our region and
move to our south through the day.

Any lingering showers should end from west to east, but should
mainly be confined to our eastern areas in the morning, clearing
by around midday. Once the last of the showers move through,
expect a fairly nice day across the region with clearing skies.
High pressure briefly noses northward but quickly slides
offshore to our south and we will have a northwest flow across
our area. This will bring some cooler air into the forecast
area. While temperatures may reach into the lower 50s in much of
the area, with the northwest wind blowing, it will feel
markedly cooler even with the sunshine later in the day.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Wednesday night as high pressure builds into the region we
should see temps well below normal. We'll see a short wave
tracking across southern New York that may cause some light
precipitation across the northern portion of the forecast area
however any precip should be light. The challenge over night as
temps fall is that the winds should start to decouple overnight
which will allow for the formation of light frost across much of
the forecast area. With the growing season considering open now
we've opted to issue a Frost Advisory for portions of southeast
PA and portions of New Jersey generally excluding the southern
I-95 corridor and the coastline. The thinking is that the Pine
Barrens will likely cool more than guidance especially under
light winds and wet bulb temps are anticipated as it is to be
generally 34 or less in the affected areas which would support
freezing temps at the surface.

High pressure builds into the region and we should see a
pleasant day Thursday into Thursday night with partly cloudy
skies and relatively chilly highs only in the 40s to low 50s. A
weak low pressure system is to approach our region on late in
the afternoon Friday. The precip shield appears to be relatively
thin however we should see a couple of tenths of rainfall as
the system tracks through.

Heading into the weekend high pressure looks to be the theme as
a low pressure system eventually develops and slides to our
south. As the midnight side mentioned, we confidence isn't real
high because there's quite the spread in timing of that system..

.AVIATION /01Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Tonight...MVFR ceilings developing around 03Z with IFR ceilings
possible after 06Z. Ceilings will become VFR at RDG/ABE by 12Z.
Light rain after 03Z at all terminals with some visibility
restrictions to MVFR possible. Northwesterly winds around 5-10
kts becoming northerly by 12Z. Moderate confidence.

Wednesday...Initially MVFR ceilings for the I-95 terminal and
south (with some IFR possible) will become VFR for the I-95
terminals by mid morning. Initially northerly winds of 5-10 kts
will increase to 10-15 kts after 18Z and become northwesterly.
Moderate confidence.

Outlook...

Thursday...Mostly VFR conditions expected. West to northwest
winds around 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 20 kt. Moderate
confidence.

Friday...VFR conditions expected lowering to MVFR or lower as
showers overspread the terminals. Light and variable winds
becoming southerly or southwesterly at 5 to 10 kt. Moderate
confidence on the overall pattern, but low confidence on the
timing of any category changes.

Saturday...VFR conditions are likely with brief periods of MVFR
ceilings especially later in the day. Light and variable winds.
Low confidence.

.MARINE...
A strengthening north-northwest flow overnight may allow for a
few gusts around 25 knots early Wednesday morning, mainly over
the southern coastal waters but it looks fairly marginal at this
time and will hold off on issuing any new headlines.

Outlook...

Wednesday...Conditions are forecast to generally remain below
SCA criteria. Rain showers in the morning. Seas 2-4 feet with
winds offshore around 10-15 kts with gusts up to 25 kts
possible.

Thursday...Winds should increase to near SCA criteria,
especially on the coastal waters through the day with waves up
to 4 feet.

Friday...Winds and seas should stay below SCA criteria.

Saturday...Seas may build above 5 ft on the coastal waters
Friday night into Saturday.
