.DISCUSSION...

...Hazardous Beach and Boating Conditions, with Coastal Flooding
Starting This Weekend...

Rest of Today...Only made some minor tweaks to the rain chances
this morning. Most of the shower and lightning storm activity has
remained offshore, and south of Sebastian Inlet. As of 9:30 AM, we
are starting to track showers developing along the coast from Ft.
Pierce south to Stuart. Going into this afternoon, shower and
storm chances continue to increase along the Treasure Coast inland
to Lake Okeechobee. Lower rain chances this afternoon across
Brevard/Osceola Counties (30-40 percent), and perhaps could see a
shower or two as far north as Orlando to Scottsmoor.

With little steering flow (light and variable winds persisting much
of the day), stationary or slow moving activity is possible for
these areas. A quick 1 to 2 inches of rain is likely where showers
and storms set up today, which could exacerbate flood concerns from
earlier this month. Cooling temps aloft will aid in thunderstorm
potential today, so frequent lightning and gusty winds will be
possible where highest rain chances reside.

Elsewhere, the drier airmass still over northern FL will keep rain
chances to less than 20 percent, with mostly dry conditions
expected north of I-4. High temperatures will reach the upper 80s
across the interior and mid 80s at the coast and southern forecast
area due to extensive cloud cover and cooling rain effects.

Tonight...(Previous Discussion) This evening, rain chances will
greatly diminish after sunset as the frontal boundary continues to
press southward, driving the disturbance away from south FL. Only
isolated showers will linger over the Treasure Coast, with most
activity remaining over the Atlantic waters. In the wee hours of
the morning prior to daybreak, variable winds will shift
northeasterly, increasing up to 10 mph as the front reaches the
local forecast area. Nighttime lows in the upper 60s north of I-4,
to low/mid 70s elsewhere.

.AVIATION...

Coastal showers this morning mainly from VRB south to SUA, and
this will be the area with the highest rain and lightning storm
coverage this afternoon. TEMPO groups likely will need to be added
for SUA/FPR/VRB, with lower potential at MLB this afternoon.
Other terminals will remain dry with light and variable winds
becoming northerly midday.

.MARINE...

Today-Tonight...Boating conditions remain favorable through this
evening, then a cold front pushes across the local waters this
weekend. Higher moisture across south FL will produce scattered to
numerous showers and thunderstorms south of Cape Canaveral today.
Light and variable winds and seas of 2-4 ft.

Very late tonight towards daybreak Saturday winds will shift
northeasterly, increasing up to 15 knots north of the
Volusia/Brevard line, beginning the period of hazardous marine
conditions for small craft operators.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

.THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
Scattered to numerous showers with isolated thunderstorms are
expected this afternoon across the Treasure Coast towards Lake
Okeechobee. Storms will be slower moving with the potential for
frequent lightning strikes and gusty winds of 40 mph with heavy
downpours.

.FLOOD IMPACT...
Higher moisture in place over South FL will enhance the potential
for heavy rain this afternoon across the Treasure Coast towards
Lake Okeechobee. Slower moving showers and storms will produce
quick heavy downpours in a short period of time. This may
contribute to ongoing flood concerns from earlier this month,
especially in areas with already saturated ground.

.RIP CURRENT IMPACT...
A moderate risk of rip currents will be present at all east
central FL beaches today. While rip currents will be present all
day, the threat will be highest during the hours surrounding low
tide, from the late morning through the late afternoon.

.MARINE THUNDERSTORM GUST IMPACT...
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms from the Treasure Coast
towards the Kissimmee River basin could produce gusty winds in
excess of 35 knots across the southern Atlantic waters, inland
lakes and intracoastal waterways. Mariners should be prepared to
seek safe harbor when storms threaten.

.RIVER FLOOD IMPACT...
The Saint Johns River at Astor is forecast to remain in Minor Flood
Stage today. Elsewhere along the Saint Johns River, at Sanford
and above Lake Harney, the river level is forecast to stay within
Action Stage, while at DeLand the river level will remain just
below Action Stage for the remainder of the week. Refer to daily
Flood Statements from NWS Melbourne for the latest river levels
and forecasts.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.
Northeast winds will rapidly increase later tonight and into
tomorrow leading to breezy conditions at the coast, with hazardous
marine conditions developing for small craft operators this
weekend. Combining the building seas behind this front with the
highest tides of the year, a threat for coastal flooding will be
present beginning at tomorrow morning's high tide, and lasting
into early next week. Minor beach erosion, rough surf and a very
high risk of rip currents is anticipated this weekend. A Coastal
Flood Watch has been issued for impacts beginning early tomorrow
morning.

A gradual increase in the river levels along the Saint Johns River
is expected Friday into this weekend as northeast winds increase and
above normal high tides cause water to backup along the Upper and
Middle Saint Johns River Basin. This may lead to the Saint Johns
River at Astor rising very near to Moderate Flood Stage.
