...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph 
  expected.

* WHERE...Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM MDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult, especially for high 
  profile vehicles. Severe turbulence near the mountains will be 
  hazardous for low flying light aircraft.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this
situation. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe
location prior to the onset of winds.

.DISCUSSION...
Upper low near the 4 Corners Region this morning with a secondary
trough swinging across Srn CA.  The low will track E across the
TX/OK Panhandles today with the trough moving into the area tonight.
After trough passes east will have brief ridging over the area
Sunday.  Another closed low will reach CA Monday before quickly
swinging across AZ and NM Tuesday.  After this low moves east high
pressure will once again return to the area through mid week with a
broad trough expected Friday.

Starting off the day with post frontal conditions... an easterly
wind and increasing low clouds.  A Leeside low sets up today over
Srn CO with a trough extending southward across the area.  The wind
will come around to the W today as the trough drags eastward pushing
the clouds east.  All this will result in warmer temps today with
readings climbing into the 70s and 80s. Sunday will even be a bit
warmer but A backdoor front tries to briefly push down into NE
Permian Basin late Sunday as a surface ridge builds south.  Models
not in agreement as far as fropa timing whether or not will be early
enough to affect afternoon highs. Temps will continue to warm Monday
into next week as 80s become widespread and some 90s appear.

Ahead of approaching upper trough 700mb wind will increase to 40kts
across the west... will upgrade the High Wind Watch for the
Guadalupes to a warning.  As far as precipitation the forecast looks
dry other than some low pops over the east in the extended.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Low relative humidity values will be present today across southeast
New Mexico and most areas south and west of the Pecos River. Winds
will be near or above 20 mph across much of this area. Fuels across
the area will continue to dry out but won't yet be critically dry.
Elevated to near critical fire weather will be present today so will
issue an RFD. Low RH values will continue across some or most of the
area through mid to late next week. Fuels will continue to dry out
as rain chances remain low to nil. Temperatures will warm back up to
above normal beginning Sunday. Tuesday looks to be the most
favorable day for critical fire weather with winds increasing in
strength and low RH values as far east as the western Permian Basin.

Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions are possible
across the Upper Trans Pecos, Southeast New Mexico Plains, and
higher terrain Saturday.

High winds are possible in the Guadalupe Mountains on Saturday.
