* WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-
lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
* WHERE...The lower Cape Fear River including downtown
Wilmington.
* WHEN...Until 11 PM EDT this evening.
* IMPACTS...Water is six to 12 inches deep on the lowest parts
of Battleship Road and USS North Carolina Road. Water begins
to spread on to River Road about a quarter mile south of The
Cape Boulevard. In downtown Wilmington, water covers more than
a block of Water Street near Market Street with three to six
inches of water just south of Market Street.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone

ground level across low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal
waterways. Of the 2 high tide cycles, the early evening will be
the higher of the 2.
For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents expected.
* WHERE...Coastal Pender and Coastal New Hanover Counties.
* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, the morning high tide
cycle between 5 AM and 9 AM EDT. And the late afternoon through
early evening high tide cycle between 5 PM and 9 PM.
For the High Rip Current Risk, from 6 AM EDT this morning
through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Minor street flooding occurs on the sound-side of
Carolina Beach such as along Canal Drive. Roadways bordering
marshes may see water coverage especially during the higher tide
in the evening. Minor beach erosion and brief ocean overwash
may occur especially across beaches made vulnerable from
Hurricane Isaias last month.
Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore
into deeper water.

* IMPACTS...Minor street flooding occurs on the sound-side of
Carolina Beach, along Canal Drive from Starfish Lane
northward. Water gets into yards along the sound, but the
street flooding is mainly the result of salt water backing up
through the storm drains. Heavy rain at the time of high tide
exacerbates this problem. Rip currents can sweep even the best
swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

Battleship Road and USS North Carolina Road with several
locations having three to six inches of water. Water over
three inches deep on River Road south of The Cape Boulevard.
In downtown Wilmington, Water Street is covered for about two
blocks beginning near the courthouse steps to about a block
south of Market Street. The deepest water on Water Street is
six to 12 inches deep in the center of the road just south of
Market Street.
