.SYNOPSIS...After a chance of light rain across Del Norte county
later today, warmer and drier conditions will return across the area.
Building high pressure and offshore winds will bring near record high
temperatures to the interior with warm temperatures all the way to
the coast from Wednesday through Friday.

.DISCUSSION...Low clouds and fog have developed along the coast this
morning with the nighttime microphysics satellite imagery showing
stratus extending well up the Eel River Valley into SE Humboldt
County. Profiler data from ACV indicate a marine layer depth of
around 3000 feet, but the low-level inversion is very week. An
approaching frontal system will likely disrupt the marine layer, even
if increasing multi-layer cloudiness delays daytime heating.
The approaching weak frontal system will be accompanied by light
rain. However, upper flow has become mostly zonal. As a result, the
tail end of the precipitation field associated with this front will
fall apart over the extreme N portion of the area, with only a few
hundredths of an inch of rain expected over Del Norte County this
afternoon and evening.
An upper high pressure ridge SW of the area will build N toward late
week. As a result, temperatures will warm across the area and winds
will become increasingly offshore. As a result, near record high
temperatures are possible for Lake and inland Mendocino counties
from Wednesday through Friday, with the highest temperatures
expected on Friday. Coastal areas should warm into the 70s as well.
Increasing offshore winds and dry conditions may allow for more
smoke from remaining fires to blow toward the coast, and this could
affect temperatures, as well as bring a return of hazy sunshine and,
possibly, worsening surface air quality.
Model guidance becomes increasingly uncertain by early next week,
but no additional rainfall is expected through next Tuesday. /SEC

.AVIATION...Fog and low clouds persist overnight at KCEC. Overcast
and low ceilings may keep flight conditions near IFR for the TAF
period at KCEC. KACV has prevailing IFR conditions with intermittent
clearing. Brief improvements at KACV could be expected in the
afternoon with raised ceilings. Low level moisture lingers through
the TAF period with LIFR conditions probable early Wednesday morning.
KUKI in VFR for most of the TAF period with northerly winds picking
up in afternoon. /EYS

.MARINE...High pressure offshore builds as wind waves combine with
NW mid-period swell, making hazardous conditions for small craft in
southern outer waters tonight. High pressure will continue to
intensify the hazard and spread to all waters Wednesday with Gale
conditions possible for the outer waters, therefore a GL.A is in
place. Conditions will continue to be monitored for further

.FIRE WEATHER...A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for much of
the interior for elevations above 2000 feet for Wednesday night
through Thursday night due to increasing winds across upper slopes
and ridgetops along with drier daytime humidities and poor nighttime
humidity recoveries. Daytime winds may briefly turn westerly during
the afternoon but will shift back to the east after sunset. The
