.SYNOPSIS...
Much milder weather will be with us this Easter Sunday afternoon
with most of central PA staying dry through the evening. Rain
will overspread the region by later tonight with locally heavy
downpours possible through Monday afternoon. Severe
thunderstorms may develop along a sharp cold front as it sweeps
west to east through the area from Monday morning through the
mid afternoon. Strong gusty winds will also precede and occur in
the wake of the cold front before subsiding Monday night.
Temperatures will trend below average Tuesday through late week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Despite a chilly start to this Easter Sunday, a milder
southerly flow will develop this afternoon with bkn-ovc altocu
clouds. This pattern will allow temperatures to climb 5 to 10
degrees above average and reach the 60s in most locations this
afternoon. Most of CPA will remain dry today with just a slight
chance of some light rain across parts of western PA mainly
early this morning or later in the evening.

Increasing southerly flow/LLJ will transport 1+ inch PWATs into
central PA tonight. Expect widespread rain to overspread the
area by midnight with locally heavy downpours possible into
early Monday morning. The risk for flooding remains low with
forecast rainfall amounts generally around a 0.50 inch or so
ending 12Z Monday.

Posted a Wind Advisory for late tonight through early Monday
evening for the very strong southerly LLJ that will buffet
mainly the ridge tops with 40 to 45KT gusts, but also create
standing waves of strong wind gusts at the base of the first
wave just to the north of the ridges with strong gap winds too.

As a strong Cfront crosses the region later Tuesday morning
through mid afternoon, we'll see a transition to west-southwest
wind gusts at the same speeds for much of the Central Ridge and
Valley Region and Susq Valley, while greater 3 hourly sfc
P-Rises of nearly 10mb and strong CAA across the NW Mtns and
Laurels (Closer to the strong sfc low track across Lake Erie)
will help to create wind gusts as high as 50 kts - warranting a
High Wind Warning there (14Z Mon through 00Z Tue).

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Wind fields aloft really crank up into Monday morning with the
southerly LLJ reaching 70-80kts or +4-5SD above the mean across
the eastern half of the area. A very strong shear/modest CAPE
environment is forecast ahead of a sharp cold front progged to
sweep across CPA between ~14-20Z Monday. Assuming clouds breaks
can develop in the wake of the overnight/early morning WAA
rains, a significant risk of organized severe weather will
exist with storms capable of damaging winds (primary threat)
but also an isolated tornado. CTP along with BGM and PHI WFOs
consulted with SPC about initially dropping the SLGT risk for
Monday. However, they amended the D2 outlook to add back the
slight risk over PA previously issued on a D3 update yesterday.

Given the magnitude of the LLJ, post-frontal pressure rises and
deep vertical mixing/CAA, feel that a wind advisory is a sure
bet for most of the area, but gusts 55-60 mph are possible over
the Alleghenies (especially the ridgetops) immediately in
advance of and behind the cold front.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
A brief lull in the weather is expected Monday night into
Tuesday, as the cold front pulls east of the area. A weak
disturbance could brush the region with a bit of light rain or
wet snow Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Medium range guidance continues to show an anomalous upper
level trough over the Great Lakes and northeastern CONUS through
the remainder of the week into next weekend, supporting a
stretch of below normal temperatures. Another weak disturbance
could bring a bit of light rain or wet snow across the area Wed
night into Thurs, with both the ECMWF and GFS projecting a more
substantial area of low pressure to impact the region Friday
into Friday night.

.AVIATION /16Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
VFR conditions continue this afternoon. Mid and high clouds
will thicken across the area. While there could be a few drops
of rain before sunset, the airmass is quite dry.

Winds pick up early this afternoon and become quite strong
form the south overnight into Monday morning. The airmass is
dry, so it will take some time for much of the area to see
showers and lower conditions Sunday night. Overall not looking
at widespread MVFR conditions to mainly after Midnight. The
leading edge of the showers could result in some gusty winds
early on, given the dry air at low levels.

.Outlook...

Sun...MVFR/IFR Sun night with widespread rain. Strong southerly
winds/LLWS likely tonight into Monday.

Mon...Reduced cigs/vsbys in widespread rain early. Strong/gusty
southerly winds turning west later in the period. Potential for
a line of severe thunderstorms accompanying the cold front
Monday afternoon.

Strong southerly gradient winds gusting up to 40 kts at times
across the higher terrain and downwind (north) of the ridges
will transition into strong WSW post cold frontal winds Monday
(late morning west and early afternoon east)
