18Z TAF discussion:
VFR flight categories will occur today through tonight at all TAF
sites. High clouds will occur but ceilings should not be an issue.
Winds will continue to become more southeasterly today. Low clouds
may move in tomorrow as moisture increases across the region.
Winds will be out of the south-southeast tomorrow with sustained
speeds of 13-20kts and gusts to 30kts possible, especially across
KGLH/KGWO. Rain and storms should hold off until after this TAF
period but will need to be added in future cycles. /28/

.DISCUSSION...
Morning convection continues to push north of the area as heights
rise across the region. This will lead to a dry day for most of
the region. Temperatures are running in the 60s areawide and
expect most all locations to reach the upper 60s or lower 70s
today. There could be a few peaks of sun today but most locations
will remain with at least some high cloud cover. /28/

Prior discussion below:

Today and Tonight...A weak stream of moisture convergence continues
to meander about a Lake Village, AR to near Jackson, MS to near
Quitman, MS line this morning.  As a mid/upper level ridge axis
continues shifting east into the forecast area, this feature is
expected to likewise shift east and out of the CWA this morning.  In
the process, it'll further dissipate as slightly drier air filters
into the region.  Still, a few sprinkles can't be ruled out through
the morning, until this feature is either out of the forecast area
or it dissipates first.

Mid/upper level ridging will build into and through the region, as
high pressure at the surface wedges itself into the CWA from the
east.  This will result in overall quiet weather across the region
today and tonight.  Although some mid and high clouds will remain
overhead, some breaks in the clouds will yield some intermittent,
but welcomed, rays of sunshine across the forecast area this
afternoon.  Highs this afternoon will range from the upper 60s to
middle 70s.

Clouds will begin increasing further across the forecast area from
the southwest after midnight.  Lows will range from the middle 50s
to around 60.  The pressure gradient will also begin tightening over
the CWA, as high pressure remains wedged into the region from the
east and a storm system begins taking shape and strengthening across
the plains.  This will result in increasing south southeast winds as
day breaks on Wednesday. /19/

Wednesday through Sunday...An active weather period is on store
at the start of mid-week. As a strong PV phases with a trough
digging down through the Pacific Northwest & Rockies, expect
strong lee-side cyclogenesis with a powerful surface low
developing across the central-northern Plains. Very anomalous
heights & surface low (i.e. ~975mb) will be swinging through
Kansas & into Nebraska through the day on Wednesday with a very
active winter weather system up there. In our area, expect strong
anomalous moisture transport & return with a strong juxtaposition
of anomalous shear moving into the region.

Wednesday: Expect severe weather, including QLCS/squall line, to be
ongoing to our west at the start of the period on Wednesday just
west of the ArkLaTex & gradually weakening as it gets east. However,
with increasing height falls into the evening, especially across the
ArkLaMiss Delta & along & northwest of the Natchez Trace corridor,
expect this to be the most favorable area for severe weather
Wednesday night & into Thursday morning. Most of the HREF CAM suite
that go out that far, indicate east-northeast bowing segments &
multicell structures moving through the Delta late Wednesday
afternoon & into the overnight hours, with some lessening of of
convection through around daybreak. Right now, due to strong
clockwise curving hodographs & strong mid-deep layer shear, a
tornado or two couldn't be ruled out, especially in Delta overnight.
With such strong curving hodographs, if we can realize a little
better instability, will have to be monitored, but there will be
some potential for some brief capping issues or veer-back-veer that
could limit the tornado threat. Regardless, main threats look to be
damaging winds, a tornado or two & some hail. This will move into
the Delta by around mid-afternoon & linger through around daybreak
Thursday. In addition, expect heavy rain to also become a concern as
anomalous moisture (i.e. PWs approaching 2 inches & 850mb & 925mb
Theta E approaching 330-340K) will combine with very wet antecedent
conditions & ongoing backwater flooding to set the stage for flash
flooding issues. Due to that, introduced an "Elevated" for flash
flooding from along & north-northwest of a line from Richland-
Madison parishes in Louisiana & Warren to Grenada counties in
Mississippi, with a "Slight" down towards the Natchez Trace
corridor. The "Elevated" area has already seen anomalous rainfall
the past month or so, ongoing backwater flooding issues & some rain
even the past day or so. This will have to be contemplated for a
flash flood watch as we get closer. Lastly, due to such anomalous
surface pressures & low-mid level flow, sustained winds of 25-30mph+
with gusts as high as 40-45mph in the ArkLaMiss Delta with gusts as
high as 30-35mph elsewhere. A wind advisory will likely be needed as
we get closer. Lastly, expect anomalous warmth as increasing low-
level thermal profiles help us warm well above normal into the upper
70s-low 80s mid-week (i.e. Wednesday-Thursday).

Thursday: As the cold front approaches the area into Thursday,
expect increasing juxtaposition of mid-deep layer shear (i.e. 30-
50kts+) & increasing lapse rates/vertical totals & subsequent
destabilization (i.e. ~1000+ J/kg). Due to this, some areas of
widely scattered thunderstorms will redevelop on Thursday across
most of the area, with some modest height falls over the area.
Regardless, as the low ejects into the Great Lakes, expect winds to
gradually become more unidirectional. Due to lingering strong shear,
damaging winds & hail look to be the main threat but a tornado still
remains possible. This will be for the afternoon to evening hours on
Thursday. In terms of the HWO, graphics & messaging for severe
storms, expanded the "Slight" across the NW to SE mainly along &
north of the Highway 84 corridor with "Marginal" across the Highway
84 corridor for both timeframes. Timing with the northwest Delta
being at threat Wednesday night & through daybreak Thursday with
areas in the east & south more into Thursday afternoon.

Friday-next weekend: Expect a much quieter pattern after the front
moves through by midday Friday as somewhat zonal flow & surface high
situates over & just north of the region. This will lead much drier
& somewhat below normal warmth as we go into mid-March. Some rain
chances can't be ruled out in the Pine Belt Saturday morning but
elsewhere we should stay dry for some time into next week. Highs
will generally range in the upper 50s to low 60s with lows into
the upper 30s in the wake of the front. /DC/

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of southeast
Arkansas, northeast Louisiana, central Mississippi, north central
Mississippi, and south central Mississippi.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are possible into late
Wednesday afternoon and into the overnight hours in the ArkLaMiss
Delta. Damaging winds and quarter size hail are also possible in
this area. Another round of severe thunderstorms are possible
into Thursday afternoon to evening hours for areas in central to
southeast Mississippi, with the main threats being damaging
winds, large hail quarter to golf ball size and a tornado is
possible.

Several inches of rain are possible across areas along and
northwest of the Natchez Trace corridor late Wednesday into
Thursday morning. 1 to 2 inches of rainfall, with locally higher
amounts, is expected into the northwest ArkLaMiss Delta. Areas of
flash flooding are likely, especially in northwest Delta, as
soils across much of the area are already saturated from recent
heavy rains, and river and backwater flooding is ongoing across
these portions of the ArkLaMiss Delta.

Gusty southerly winds will occur on Wednesday ahead of the
frontal system. Sustained winds up to 30mph will be possible with
gusts up to 45mph. This will be possible areawide, with the
strongest winds occurring in the Delta region.

The activation of storm spotters, HAM radio operators, and
